Take arms, it'll all blow over Prestigious

I still can't tell the difference between the singers in 2023

We reach for the longest shadow

It took me actively looking it up during the ATP era to figure it out, so I get it.

Man, I think they sound so, so different. Completely distinct vocal timbres.

I had trouble on OTIP and Rented World. I think it’s pretty easy these days, especially this album.

They have never, ever sounded similar at lol what? Not only do their voices sound completely different but they also sing differently

Good guy, but a bad dude

I thought they were a one singer band when I first got into them when OTIP released lol

Wow lol. To be fair though to you their differences have gotten more pronounced over years

Greg also used to routinely sing in his higher range when he was younger where he doesn’t as much anymore. Tom is always pushing that upper region.

I guess I can see getting them confused on On the Impossible Past, because Greg sang a little different then. Anything After the Party and beyond, though, I just don't get it! You thought the same guy was singing "Black Mass" and "The Bars"?!

The way my ears work, if I don’t really focus in on the singing it kinda fades into the background. So I can def see how someone wouldn’t notice the differences in the two singers. Obviously I know there are two, but if I didn’t it’d probably take me a couple playthroughs to notice.

  17. new ears? in this economy?

Love this album. This band just hits a sweet spot for me with every release. I still think Hello Exile is my favourite album or theirs, front to back.

Loving this album the more time I spend with it. There's definitely a distinct Menzingers sound to it, but it seems far from "paint by the numbers." If we took OTIP, Rented World, and this album and compared all of them, I'd say they explore quite different styles and sounds, even though the cores are the same.

OTIP has that scrappy Orgcore melodic punk thing going on.
Rented World has big anthemic chunky riffs.
Some Of It Was True feels like their spin on Americana with a touch of 90s alt rock in there.

Chamberlain is their most punk (Rise Against vibes)
OTIP is their most orgcore (Gaslight vibes)
RW is their most 90s alternative (peak Weezer vibes)
ATP is their most pop punk (peak Millencolin vibes)
HE is their most 80s indie (Replacements vibes)
New one is their most heartland (Tom Petty vibes)
