Oh boy. Wife and I are going on our first extended trip away from our daughter starting tomorrow. We'll be gone Tuesday-Saturday, so 4 nights away. We've both been away overnight from her before but never at the same time. We absolutely 100% trust my sister and brother-in-law with watching her, so that's not an issue. But my wife is getting super nervous and sad and has jokingly mentioned cancelling the trip, which is actually our delayed honeymoon we never got to take because spring 2020 was Covid rampant. Meanwhile, I'm like counting down the hours lol

Obviously I'll miss my daughter and that won't really hit me until I'm there, and I've heard the first day is always the worst.

Anyone else have a hard time when spending time away from your kids for the first time?

We took our first trip that we had to fly for away from our kids (7 and 5 at the time) this past April for 4 nights and my wife said she had such anxiety the whole time that we will never be doing a trip that far away again without the kids until they're almost adults.
It didn't bother me much at all and I enjoyed the break

my wife is also petrified of flying in general, so the idea of us both flying without the kids was just too much for her and thinking the kids were losing both parents on the flight

  8. our fifteen month old knows lots of words for a kid her age, but for the last couple of weeks she has limited herself to:
    -"bugga" (bug)
    -"geen" (green)
    -"uhoh!"
-"ichie" (ouchie aka bug bite, scab, dirt on her hand, the chunk she chewed out of the baby gate, etc)

That's besides mama, dada, byebye, and "no no no" of course. I think it's hilarious but it's driving my wife crazy because she's worked pretty hard to teach her colors and stuff, and she knows them--you ask the kid if she sees something blue and she'll point to something blue, and we've heard her say "blue" before--but if you ask her "what color is the flower" the answer is suddenly now "GEEN!" 100% of the time

Watching the live action or whatever this abomination version of the Lion King is with my daughter and I don’t understand how it can be this bad. They made everything worse but how do you make all the songs bad too? Everyone involved in this should have had to find new careers

Can’t believe my daughter is already going to be a month old next week. Insane.

She’s been doing good. Daytime naps have been damn near impossible though, it’s so sporadic and short. She’s usually pretty good at night so far knock on wood. Just 2-3 wake ups. I’m so tired all the time lol

can’t imagine my life without her though. Love her so damn much.

Nice. Our used stroller came with the bassinet attachment, I’m wondering if they make a stand for it so we can just have it off to the side in the living room if one of us desperately needs sleep in the bedroom. Gonna need a bigger place by the summer lol

So we got our elementary school picture day pictures back today. both of my kids wear glasses but my daughter’s picture she wasn’t wearing her glasses because she said they asked her if she wanted them off and she doesn’t know better than to not say yes. We asked my son if they asked him about his and he said they didn’t.

what sexist bullshit is this?? Anybody else deal with this?

I seriously hope that is the case, my wife just mentioned that she’s been asked plenty of times in her life and I’m just flabbergasted at not knowing that that is even a thing

I don't think I've ever commented in here, even though I've mentioned my kid throughout the site. He's almost 3, we adopted him from birth, is an absolute ball of energy, a terrible sleeper, and loves Turnstile and playing outside. Already enjoyed reading the last couple pages.
