We reach for the longest shadow

The run from the start until Take it to Heart rules. Feels like it drops off slightly after that and never quite picks back up. Definitely a lot to come back to though, and I'll be paying attention a little closer to the back half on my second listen.

I love the end of Try from the guitar solo onward. The little flourishes and Tom doing his thing *chef's kiss*

After listening most of the day yesterday, my biggest complaint is I wish High/Low was the closer

Tom sounds the best he ever has on his songs. Digging this a lot more than HE.

God I want the title track to be another two or three minutes longer, I absolutely adore that chorus.

Tom catches a lot of strays around these parts for typically being the lesser of this band’s two singers, so I’ll just say that “Portland” is the best song off Hello Exile.

    Very easily

  13. I don't know if "Portland" is better than "Anna" or "Strain Your Memory," but it is probably my favorite Tom song since at least "Burn After Writing."

Greg’s songs are similar to his solo effort IMO. Appreciate the growth in song writing but man do I miss the narrative stories that really highlighted characters and places.

Sounds the same as every other menz album. Pretty good.

Tom is honestly my favorite of the two. About halfway through a distracted listen and I’m really enjoying it. The vocals stand out much more than their last few and it feels fresher than Hello Exile.

Absolutely not. High School Friend, Strangers Forever, America, Farewell Youth are the best songs on it. Last to Know is my favorite Tom song it. Portland rules though there’s just a ton of songs on that album that do

Of those, “Farewell Youth” is the only one that’s even close for me.

Strain Your Memory would be second for me. The only two on that album that I return to

My favorite song from the hello/from exile era honestly might be the acoustic version of Anna

my first listen takeaway is that the high points on this are very easily the Tom songs. I love Alone in Dublin, might be my favorite Greg track on here. gonna need to give this one a little time. did not *love* it.

All of Hello Exile doesn't get enough credit honestly. And I know, I know, people don't like the production. But still.
