Coming from a half hour away, so easily here by the weekend

 

I’ve never heard of this band before this album and I’m enjoying all of these songs.

 

Good band, would also recommend checking out Mat Kerekes’s solo work too!

 

I was really not looking forward to being super let down by this after feeling completely indifferent at best toward each of the 4 singles. Following my first listen, I’m happy to eat some crow. Nearly every song that’s not a single on this is head and shoulders above any song that has been. They feel like a living, breathing version of the band opposed to tracks that felt like they were written and recorded by one person. Bummer that it makes for such an uneven record, but like half of this is maybe the most impressed I’ve been with Citizen since I first discovered them. Lay Low, Needs, Bad Company, Dogs, and Options are the swings I needed them to take. Even the closer feels like a more exciting version of what I expected to hear

 

Need to give this some time. Not feeling it after first listen

 

this is easily my favorite citizen album since youth

 

Loving this on first listen, tried to avoid the singles as much as possible.

 

I enjoy this but it sounds closer to Mat's solo work than a Citizen album

 

It’s pretty wild to think this is the same band that wrote everybody is going to heaven. Mat is obviously super talented, but this was such a giant miss for me. It takes everything to not immediately skip every time he does the reverb-y yelp thing

 

Dogs is the standout track to me so far, love when they get zany.

I dig this a lot. Honestly, I checked out after As You Please.

 

I've been pretty mixed on this band over the years, from actively disliking Youth to thinking they finally landed on a really cool sound with Life In Your Glass World. I love the direction they went on this one, but I definitely need more time with it to see if the songs really stick.

 

still haven't listened yet (waiting until this afternoon when my copy shows up), but i can get the sentiment re: having mixed-ish feelings about the band. i love EIGTH and LIYGW, and only kinda like AYP and Youth. i'm expecting to be pleasantly surprised with this one, but i'm assuming it'll land somewhere in the middle (between LIYGW and AYP, or possibly even with AYP).

 

This is quite quite good.

 

“Can’t Take It Slow” is my favorite after one listen.

Dying to listen to this. I’ve found tracks to love in every one of their albums and was honestly most disappointed with LIYGW upon release but even it’s grown on me

 

I also like Mat's solo stuff way more than any Citizen album, so idk if you can trust me

I have zero nostalgia for the old stuff. Digging the new album, though. Just really solid pop-rock.

 

I love all Citizen records to varying degrees and this record is no different.

However; I think Life In Your Glass World is the stronger record as this feels a little too repetitive in overall sound.

 

This bangs hard. Their songwriting has never been tighter and each band member gets their moment to shine

 

This is great. Exceeded expectations and would be surprised if this isn't in my top 5 at the end of the year
