This band was so good.

 

I tried getting into Have Heart and it just sounded like Defeater to me. Much prefer Fiddlehead

 

I mean they don’t really sound all that alike. Plus Defeater kinda stinks.

 

Yes they do stink hence why I couldn’t get into Have Heart. Just his vocals on their last album reminded me of Defeater. Also I just prefer Fiddleheads sound

 

Fiddlehead might be a better band based on critical metrics, but Have Heart is an all-timer hardcore band to me. There are few sets that will ever top the outdoor reunion show in MA in 2019. Sunny needs to get off his ass and release the footage.

Hey now, that acoustic song was cool

 

defeater has a couple tracks across the discography but they never put it together for a single great album imo

 

Heartwork has one of my favorite guitar tones in all of metal

 

it sounds insane lol

 

That opening strumming is one of those guitar parts that is always playing in some deep recess of my brain.

 

Excited for new Svalbard. Their last release was great. Someone tell me how this new one is when they get a chance.

 

I thought you were talking about Defeater still and was like wow i have to hear this tone!

 

So excited to check this one out this morning. I'll let y'all know what I think.

This band just rips, the riffs and melodic passages just really do it for me.

EDIT: not the most original ideas, but when they go full black metal blast beat for a section then switch to double bass for the next part that stuff gives me life.

EDIT 2: Definitely a consistent release. I enjoyed it the whole way through, didn't notice any highlights per se, but they might reveal themselves after multiple listens. Closer had a cool vibe that was different from the rest of the album.

 

I'm loving the new Svalbard record a ton. May not be an immediate favorite for me like When I Die but thats a tough record to try to match.

Probably the wrong thread for this, but Defeater peaked with Lost Ground, and they'll never reach that high again...imo.
