This has been a little bit of a slow burn for me but I've been listening more and more lately. It's just so much fun

the Relient K thread recc'd this album a little while back and I'm glad whoever did that did. It's very hard to capture the type of pop-punk that this site grew up with in 2023, most of the pop punk bands that are more popular don't have.... something, that is really hard to place your finger on. For me, most bands really miss the diversity aspect, the uniqueness, catchy but clever, etc etc. This album is the first in a long time, last I can recall is Fuck Art, that takes me back to that time and captures it perfectly. This album is SO Relient K, but I definitely do hear MCS and some Andrew McMahon among others, sick album.

I never really got into their last album, but now I feel like I should revisit, and probably the two recent EPs too?

The two EPs are fun little experiments, the first one definitely a little lighter and more Relient K sounding. The 2nd one is basically a hardcore record lol.

If you like this, I’d actually recommend going back to Somewhere City as the next logical step. Gami Gang is great but a little long and overstuffed.

@VanMastaIteHab NOTED, will have that one be my next listen.

If someone told me that "Thank You, New Jersey" and "My PG Country Summer" were Relient K songs, I might believe them

Somewhere city and family gang are both fantastic albums. Fun little quirks in every song that keep them interesting/different.

Gami Gang got me into this band... but now Somewhere City is my favorite album by them. Took probably a solid 6 months of GG before I really got into SC but just an incredible album.

Been listening back through this bands discogrpahy, and while I like every release, I really think these guys took a huge step forward with this new one. Just so so good

This is the strongest first listen I've had with this band so far and my main issue with the last one, the length, is certainly fixed. I can see myself playing this a lot.

I love Gami Gang but never really got into Somewhere City. Based on everyone in this thread, I suppose I'll have to go back and try again.

Somewhere City is my favourite of the two. The Air Up Here is my favourite song of theirs.

I'll admit that after talking about it in here I tried listening to Somewhere City and didn't like it, I think I only got a few songs in. For lack of better word, sounded too amateur to me, they've obviously grown as a band since then

I agree with the Steve. There's some older tracks here and there that I've enjoyed, but as a full record, this is the only one that puts it all together. Top 5 of the year for me

This is how I felt when I went back to it after loving Gami Gang. But then I started watching live clips and seeing how they went off live and then I got it. So yeah, now SC is my favorite of theirs... and The Air Up Here is my favorite song as well.

  22. SC, GG, and this are all classics in my eyes. What this has that the other two don't is the cleanest production.

I loved somewhere city and gami gang, but i just can't get into this album. It was a huge disappointment

I think their entire discography is excellent. Doing the Most through Gen 3 are great fun pop punk songs.
