After some reflection and watching older videos, Brian seemed…distant and not stoked to be at the show I was at Friday night. They SOUNDED great, but Brian barely spoke to the crowd at all and mumbled a little bit but just stuck to the set and kept to himself.

I live in South Dakota so bands that I love usually skip us and go straight to Minnesota or Nebraska (or even Iowa for that matter). We tend to only get the shitty kind of country like the Morgan Wallen’s or the Jason Aldean’s, but punk rock and indie rock just doesn’t do well here. But that being said, the audience around me (myself included) was so stoked to have them here and was cheering enthusiastically throughout the entire show.

Anyone else that’s seen Brian on this tour noticed a difference in how he is on stage? I don’t expect him to jump around and constantly be kissing the ass of the city he’s in, but I could tell he was not feeling it.

I think people are going to be a lot less bothered by the vocal production in context. It's not really that noticeable when you're hearing a whole record in that style, at least not in the way it is if you go from "Positive Charge" to, like, "45."

I think people have good days and not so good days, dude is a human being. He seemed genuinely happy and joking around but sincere too at riot fest a couple weekends ago. Is it just me or does he seem to get psycho analyzed more than other lead singers on here and Reddit?

Yeah it makes sense, I suppose it's just because of his charismatic personality that when he has a bad day, it's more noticeable than a frontperson that is more closed off. He still put on a solid show, but after watching a lot more shows, I was assuming he'd do more banter, but he must not have been feeling it that night.

Two weeks ago was my first time seeing TGA ever live. I recall in the thread for the last tour they did - people were complaining about how much Brian talked. Personally, that wouldn't have bothered me, but Brian specifically said at the CLE show "i'm not supposed to talk much' or something to that effect. Wondering if the band, or management, or someone told him to limit his talking (if he really was talking as much as people said).

At the CLE show he rambled a little bit in the beginning and then said something like 'I'm only going to talk to you guys one more time, maybe two more times." but he seemed happy and in good spirits and sounded great. Also told stories and jokes - but didn't talk nearly as much as I was led to believed he would.

I also don't understand why people complain about his banter because it's top tier every time. I was cracking up at that show. He also talked way more at the Cleveland show than any other time I've seen them since they got back together which is funny since he said he wasn't going to lol

“Autumn” is really great. I hear some cool little southern rock touches on that one.

I'm in the same boat, except that I heard (and loved) Little Fires live last week.

I've always enjoyed Brian's banter, and he seemed his usual jovial self at my show.
