I woke up in the middle of the night a few years ago and a movie was on IFC. it was the most evil, satanic thing I think I’ve ever seen. it was the last thing that truly scared me and idek what it is

  4. Oh I have one of those. We still haven't figured out what my killer clown western was

There’s like two scenes in Talk to Me that really freaked me out, especially the like 1 second of the kid being tortured in hell. No thanks on that shit.

That and when he kept hitting his head off everything. I gasped and could hardly look.

Yeah the eyeball scene was really the only thing that freaked me out, but that's more gross than scary. I did have to look away during that for sure.

That one bedroom scene WOULD have been one of the scariest scenes in the film, but then she has to go suckin' toes. Completely killed the mood.

personally would be freaked the fuck out if a ghost started sucking on my toes but I'm built different

Hahaha yeah, in reality you're totally right. Was just so goofy on screen

  13. I'll try not to get too longwinded since I'm not very good at analysis. I just think there's a lot more thematic depth and care put into the filmmaking with the two movies I mentioned. Martyrs deals with the idea of achieving transcendence through suffering, which feels like a strong parallel to that idea within many religions. They're very different movies, but Saint Maud kind of reminded me of Martyrs because of that idea. It's also a heartbreaking exploration of trauma and how it follows you, an idea that many modern horror movies play with.

Trouble Every Day is an interesting take on gender dynamics, human nature, the things we do for our partners and the lies we keep from them. For a movie that's so morbid and dark, there's a quiet and tenderness to it that's perhaps as haunting as the violence depicted. Idk how to describe it really. It's just stuck with me.

All that said, there is extreme violence and suffering depicted and I think it's completely normal for people to not want to subject themselves to that. I just wanted to point out that with some of these movies, there can be a lot to dig into and dissect beyond the disturbing violence.

As for the Terrifier movies, I'm in a different place than most on those ha. Like someone said, they're slashers taken to the extreme. Most people watch them for Art the Clown and the gore, which is done with impressive practical effects work. I didn't enjoy the first one because it felt too cruel. The sequel, while more brutal, was also much more wacky, humorous, and palatable imo. I had fun with it, but idk if I'll ever return to it.

The gore in both Terrifiers got so exhausting, didn’t really like either

  16. Couldn't say this better myself.

Forgot to mention that Night of the Demons was my Movie That Takes Place on Halloween pick.

Finally finished No One Will Save You, and unfortunately, it was... not for me. Probably a good movie, sporadically creepy and well-directed, but the no dialogue thing felt gimmicky to me, the CGI aliens were less than desirable, and that ending... I just don't know.

Checked out Ghostwatch last night for the tv movie category. Dug it for the most part, just thought it took a little too long for things to start happening, but that could be just because i was a bit sleepy lol. The last 20 minutes or so was great though. pretty creepy and unsettling. 3.5/5

Shock Waves was awesome. I believe it was my Peter Cushing pick from my actual Hooptober list. The idea that an elite unkillable group of Nazi SS super zombies was just chilling under the ocean for 25+ years until disturbed by a passing ship is insano

It starts out slow for sure you just gotta put yourself in the mindset of a Brit in the '90s just throwing on the BBC and thinking you're watching an actual newscast. Like, "Oi let me have a cuppa and throw on the telly. What's all dis den? It's ghosts in London, innit?" You know, like that.

Yeah that went completely over my head lol. I would have enjoyed it a lot more that way I think
