Just watched No One Will Save You. For some reason I thought this was going to be more Dark Skies and super creepy?

It was way more of a fun creature feature if you will lol, but I enjoyed my time! Kaitlyn Dever delivered and was excellent in this

I really liked It Lives Inside! Has a nice cultural aspect dealing with themes like assimilation and intergenerational trauma. The lore of the monster is reminiscent of It Follows, The Ring, Umma, Talk to Me, and Smile, but I'm not really sure what to call this sort of subgenre of horror, if you could even consider it that.

(per our previous conversation, I don't think this would've been better with an R rating. Like Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, it is sufficiently creepy without being graphic. Some pg13 movies just work)

edit: btw you could probably consider this a cryptid movie, if you're still on the lookout for one for Gore Us

edit: the teacher was played by Betty Gabriel, who was also the housekeeper in Get Out! I knew she looked familiar

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Hamish Linklater in Midnight Mass is the performance of a fucking lifetime

Unwelcome really worked for me. What a silly mess of a movie.

Listening now and it’s a weird one. I feel like 90% of their qualms come from King’s novel itself. They hold it against the movie, which did its best to uphold the source material and also act as a sequel to arguably one of the greatest horror films of all time. To continually compare DS to the original is a fool’s errand.

Does the Lovecraft have to be a direct adaptation or just Lovecraftian?

Starting my made for TV pick. I think it got a small theatrical release later, but this premiered on HBO so it counts.

  20. As I've mentioned before, my friends and I are doing that horror movie club thing where they begrudgingly join me to watch progressively scarier shit, and right now shit's getting seriously scary. Kicking off Phase Three tonight, I showed them Nope! they did not have a good time lolol. I of course fucking love this movie. Gonna do The Shining and Doctor Sleep next! they're gonna hate me after this. We're in the deep end now y'all

I was intending for it to be a direct adaptation but I think Lovecraftian is fine!

No One Will Save You was interesting, I liked how there was no dialogue the whole time, really helped envelop you in the feeling of isolation.

but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, not every monster has to make weird cracking noises and guttural sounds. They all sound the same!

Supernatural stalker horror? But it's a bit more nuanced than that because it can get passed on and/or you only have like seven days

  25. Ok I’m stoked to check out No One Will Save You
