Pneuma and S/T are two of my favourite albums ever.

All their music is great, especially Waves

I can see people not liking waves because it might feel more timestamped to a specific era and subgenre of post hardcore, but it's such a good album

Thanks everyone for your information about Housebroken. I always took it as a metaphor for people being mistreated by the State/Government/status quo but unwilling to leave their comfort zone and find out what might happen if they rejected or fought back against those wrongs. And I've seen Christian talk about anarchism which aligned with my interpretation.

I guess I also thought that there's no way anyone in their right mind would use a dog metaphor to describe a domestic abuse victim.

But once you put a song out there it belongs to the listeners in a way, and if that's how people thought it was intended then the band has done the right thing by putting that song in the drawer.

My how far we have come. When I started following this music 20 years ago the hottest new bands were guyliner dudes singing about killing their ex girlfriends. Or threatening suicide over break ups. Or just generally sl*t shaming.

He'll even the Beatles had a song threatening to abuse a girl if she ever wronged them.

MM is a the band that I should be into because they check all of my boxes, but (I know this is a controversial opinion and I wish it wasn’t true either) I think their vocalist is not good. And it’s not his voice, just the types of melodys he writes and a lot of lyrics feel really amateurish to me.

I will now accept my public flogging….

I actually really like housebroken and how it sounds so different from what he rest of the album. I understand wanting to pull it, but I also think it’s okay to play it and give some context while introducing it. I also think it does enough to convey the actual meaning behind it (especially the end of song), but I totally understand that the tiny details of a song are not always apparent. And I think it’s also a solid choice to just say, “yea, we don’t even want to risk singing something like this if it can be easily misunderstood as such a bad message”.

Julien Baker had a song she felt made sense in her head, but could give off a different vibe to an outside listener. She started introducing it differently and giving the context of why it was written. I thought that was very helpful in understanding the conversation the song fit into.

I also really like Housebroken and didn’t think anything of its message until the band stopped playing it, and I’m cool with that.

They're not bigger than Foxing, but they are from Cincinnati which I imagine weights the billing for an Xmas show pretty heavily in their favor.

Lol, I had to look it up too. I knew Connor was the singer and Eric the guitarist. Blake appears to be a woman not in the band. Felt like someone named Blake was in this band at one point though.

Band really is a gathering of the most generic male names out there.

EDIT: This was more true than I realized. Current members are Conor, Eric, Jon, and Brett. Former members are Tom, Sam, Jim, Matt, Ben, Josh, Ricky.
