Same thing happened when The National played before Kanye in 2014

    It's chaos. Be kind. Prestigious

I guess Brand New played right before Bon Jovi at Bamboozle one year, which is hilarious to think about.

Can't speak for every city but Webster Hall, where she's playing in NYC, rarely does shows on Fri/Sat nights as those are, ironically, reserved for dance party nights.

I saw Weyes Blood open for Beck and Phoenix last week and the 50 year old Beck fans weren't feeling her

I didn’t go but I heard Coheed opening for Slipknot was rough.

People looked very confused at Mod Sun on the Scary Kids Scaring Kids farewell tour. I think it was his first tour (was drumming for sksk under the condition he could perform solo stuff).

The 2006 Black Clouds And Underdogs Tour was Fall Out Boys‘s first arena tour I believe. Tons of more poppier radio emo - all American rejects, Hawthorne heights with saying sorry blowing up… then you had heroine era From First To Last with Wes Borland covered in slime. Felt like I was the only person singing with most of the arena being younger girls

  10. And this is how I found out that Wes Boreland briefly played bass in From First To Last.

I remember The Dresden Dolls opening Panic's first headling tour and I gotta tell you, those teeny boppers didnt know what to make of the DD's brand of weird cabaret punk.

I saw chance the rapper with Francis and lights.

Crowd didn't get Francis at all. They booed him off stage and chance had to come out and yell at the crowd right before his set.

Cage the Elephant playing before Three Days Grace and Puddle of Mudd at a radio show didn’t go over very well.

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

I wasn’t there for it, but this seems like a good time to bring back up the infamous “Cold opening for Weezer” tour

Crazy Town at Ozzfest in 2001 did not go over as well

Magna-Fi at the 2004 version was probably worse. This was when Ozzfest swerved toward less commercial and purer metal and hardcore bands, and they were a poor post-grunge band sharing a stage with Hatebreed, Every Time I Die, God Forbid, and Throwdown.

Skrillex before GNR was a head scratcher when I saw that

I didn't witness it but The Used, I believed, played a leg of Ozzfest in 2002. Can't imagine how that would have gone over...

Buddyhead rumor at the time was Geffen paid Weezer $250k to include Cold on the tour.

I feel like this isn't true, because aren't the bands friends? Or at least Scooter and Rivers?

Just feels like the kind of dumb rumor some punk kid would make up to explain why a band they like would associate with a band they don't like.

  23. Phil507

It's most likey true though not UNHEARD of. I remember second stage Ozzfest bands cost $75k for the label and the practice of tour buy-ons was fairly (maybe still is?) common.

  24. Penlab

    Prestigious Supporter

Oh sure, I know tour buy-ons happen all the time, but in this particular instance, it rings false.

I can't believe we're talking about weird lineups and no one has mentioned the time that blink toured with Lil Wayne for the Enema anniversary tour. With Neck Deep opening. Was the weirdest show I've ever been to.
