It's officially Riot fest week! Here's to hoping this week will fly by fast

Okay, it happened: I'm officially disappointed I can't be there this year. The schedule is honestly kinda perfect for me with minimal overlap and just... Yeah. Have fun everybody!

Weather looking great, and I think I have all my conflicts sorted out.

 

FF aren't completely unopposed - I'm fully planning to catch Sludgeworth when their set is on! Good underrated 90's punk band. A bit of a Ramones vibe. Only one album so not hard to get into. Much smaller crowd. Sounds a lot more fun to me than seeing FF (who headlines a lot of festivals) from miles out.

The Cure is a worry, though. As a huge Gaslight fan (in fact they're my two favorite bands of the fest), the schedule is a real worry... i guess it's good they don't straight up clash. But still, 10 minutes difference between sets and Cure unopposed. Seems like the only way to get a good spot for Cure would be to give up on Gaslight completely which is a shame. Or I could do both and probably see Cure from miles out.

I'm kinda hopeful that since it's the festival end, and Riot crowd is usually more into punk/metal than the Cure (and maybe younger), and the Cure will likely play quite a few new songs... maybe big crowds will leave early and i'll still get a decent spot. But that's probably wishful thinking.

 

I could be crazy, but wasn't there a functionality on the app that let you "build" your own schedule? that would be super helpful right now.

After moving two weeks ago in 100 degree weather for an entire weekend in PA, coming to Chicago for a week where it will be sunny and be in the 70s the whole time is very welcome.

 

So like, there’s going to be the same chaos in regards to the Mexican Independence celebrations this weekend like usual aren’t there?

yes. Mexican Independence Day is on Friday but it'll likely be a weekend thing.

 

Slight chance of rain on Sunday now, but otherwise the forecast is still just about perfect.

 

The way the weather has been here lately, that can and probably will change haha.
