This is cool. It’s nice to see Bukayo getting his flowers. And I agree with the fans.

  3. Saka is the top player from our rivals that I wish we had. Makes me sad.

  4. This might be a dumb question….

If a player goes to Club X on a loan with an option to buy, once the time comes for Club X to make their decision, does the player have a say at that point? Like, if he wants to return to his original club can he refuse Club X or is he stuck there because he’s kinda already their player?

Perhaps CL football (Ange could be even more ambitious than that?) next season really is that important to Spurs? Also, look at it this way: if Spurs' squad isn't ready for a deep dive into the EFL Cup during the 2nd Round, why is it going to be ready suddenly during the latter stages?

If the club has an option to buy, they have already negotiated the terms with the player before. Otherwise it would not be an option, right?

Also, that's not a dumb question at all.

Just seen that Fulham also made six changes. Really impressive from them, yet again.

This is pretty interesting (although I'm not entirely sure how accurate this really is), but really shows how reckless teams (mostly Chelsea lol) have been at spending over the years.

Yeah, I'm not buying some of those numbers. Di Maria was signed in 2014. We haven't seen the pound increase by 250% in that time. Bank of England calculator says his transfer would be about £78m now.

Pretty sure that whoever did it doesn't understand percentages. Either that or they converted to another currency in the middle or something.

All the numbers look like absolute nonsense.

Apparently the numbers are based on the average transfer fee in the window the player was signed or something? Which wouldn't be the best way of working it out

Yeah, you're right. If you go down the article, then it explains that the methodology is based on the average player cost in the year they were signed, the average player cost this summer and then they've multiplied their original fee by the ratio between their signed season and now.

Pretty sure nobody assumes that when they see the phrase 'adjusted for inflation'.

It’s taken so long but finally an English reporter mentioning it. Loan only lol.

    It's all hell.

I mean those 100+ ffp charges are still outstanding?

However, Chelsea literally did break the market with their spending after Abramovic took over and every team in the PL had to play catch up in the 00s/10s to remain competative whilst fees spiralled like crazy. I know the article shows that teams did use financial muscle to buy glory before (I.e. Blackburn), but nobody fucked shit up like Abramovic did which is probably why they're so pronounced.

    hmmm

It's a shame it's limited to post-92. I was pretty pleased at remembering that Mark Lawrenson played for Brighton.

9/9. Danny Guthrie was my best work today.
