It’s a single, per the email that went out to their mailing list.

Insanely enjoyable album, really dug it and not sure how this didn't stick with me more when I first heard it. Hard to pick favorites outside of the opener and title track but everything here is wonderful

Your Side of Town 1-min preview here for those who aren't in New Zealand or doing any clever VPN stuff.

    (it's full-on synth-pop)

I got that same impression listening to the minute clip. Definitely not what I was expecting.

I get that a bit with the vocal distortion, but it sounds way more like Pet Shop Boys to me, specifically It’s A Sin. The mix of danceability and drama, with the dark minor chord at the end of the progression.

The lead synth tone reminds me of their Always On My Mind cover too, which the Killers did at their 2019 Glastonbury set.

hell yes to more auto tuned vocals by Brandon Flowers. When they come in on Lonely Town is one of my fav parts of Desired Effect

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

weird song, I like it. ends too abruptly though

I was trying not to be a party pooper, but this was my thought too after listening first thing this morning after waking up.

Boy and this are both just fine to me, haven’t really gripped me like their last 2 albums have.

Still think when it’s released I’m gonna love it

I honestly forgot "Boy" existed until right now. The problem with dropping standalone singles in the middle of otherwise radio silent career periods, IMO.

this isn't a morning song though. this is a dusk to dawn track.

Really cool song. As much as I love the Springsteen-indebted stuff, it’s awesome hearing them strongly pull from the other set of influences for the first time in a while.

Also on Apple Music, Brandon said they’ve got “another one in the can” (pretty sure he meant single), and a big announcement coming soon that he can’t talk about yet.
