As some of you may recall, my daughter dressed as Spider-Gwen for Halloween last year. Well this summer, after taking our kids to see this one, my son told me he absolutely needed to be Miles for Halloween. Upon hearing this I decided we’ve got to go the full nine yards to ensure he looks sharp. It finally arrived today (got a jump on the Halloween costumes very early this year to avoid all the hassle down the road) and he was psyched. It just makes me so happy how much they love Spidey.

Absolutely! The suit itself I got from Etsy, here:

    https://www.etsy.com/listing/1483017761/

There were a lot of options on Amazon and ebay but nothing in the proper size for my kid and I also didn’t love all of the designs that I saw. Some of the body costumes would be fine, but then the mask was all wrong or vice versa. I’ve been turning to Etsy more and more for costumes for this reason because so many cosplayers have shops set up on there tailored to your exact needs. This particular shop sells a bunch of other kids’ Spidey costumes that also look legit.

As for the green jacket/red hoodie, I got that from Ebay:

Spider-Man Miles Morales Into the Spider-Verse Hoodie Coat Jacket Kids &Adult | eBay

Again, I found tons of these on Amazon and Etsy, but this time (including Etsy) they were all this cheap polyester material that people complained in the reviews were really thin. I finally found a nice, warm cotton one on Ebay and it fits great and will be really cozy when it’s cold here in Michigan on Halloween night.

The shoes are the official Across the Spider-Verse Nikes I bought through snkrdunk:

SNKRDUNK | Buy & Sell Authentic Sneakers and Apparels

If you’ve ever been wanting to buy Nikes for your kid (or yourself for that matter), this site is a great resource. Everything comes from Asia and, because fashion is generally ahead of the U.S. over there, you’ll find tons of the newer Nike models at a significantly lower price than you’ll find anywhere else. If you look around online for this particular shoe, for example, people sell them generally between $200-$300 whereas I managed to snag a pair at $70. Snkrdunk goes through an authentication process and will send you a certificate of authenticity to ensure you’re getting the real deal before they’ve shipped it to you as well.

I feel like a bot lol.

So that was my process for getting this costume. If you happen to be looking for an adult sized costume, there are a LOT of other sellers on Etsy who also sell some awesome Miles costumes. I only went with this one in particular because I needed that exact child size. Etsy can be a real rabbit hole when it comes to costumes, oh my god. I constantly have to tell myself “you don’t need that” because there are some insanely talented people out there making some seriously cool shit. Right now I’m trying to convince myself my son doesn’t also need the universal traveling watch from Across the Spider-Verse with a working lcd screen lol. There are people on Etsy who have also made Spidey masks with mechanical eyes you can move with a little hand held controller and those are equally cool as hell.

    Nice, thank you!

EDIT: How old is your kid and what size did you get? Mine is 7, but like 54" tall (feel like he's real tall for his age).

So my kid’s short for his age and is just under 4 feet tall so he’s hovering around 46-47 inches. I went with the Medium since that one’s suited for 3’9” - 4’1” and it fit him just about perfectly with a little extra room in the waist since he’s not the full 49”. Since your son is 54” tall, it looks like he might vacillate between the Large or X-Large since the Large tops out at 53”, but the X-Large starts at 53 and goes all the way up to 59. I’d guess the X-Large might be the one you’ll end up wanting to go with and it’ll end up having a bit of space in the waist as well, but it all fits so snugly that it’s barely noticeable and made all the better with the jacket to cover.

Thanks, outfit is so cool. Mine loves Spidey and his Amazing Friends and the two Spider Verse movies, gonna show him tonight to see if he'd want it.

Oh and as for the jacket, I started out with a size 8 (which is the one pictured), but it’s a bit bulky on him and the sleeves are a little too long for his arms so I’ve just ordered a size 6 which will probably fit him better. So I’m guessing the size 8 jacket for your kid would be the way to go.

And no problem! I love how excited they get when they’re all dressed up and look awesome. When I was a kid I grew up very poor and money was spread thin because there were three kids so my Halloween costumes were always like sweaters with tape stuck to them and fabric my mom threw together. God love her, I appreciated everything she did for me. It’s just that kids at school could be needlessly cruel to me about it so, while I don’t make bank myself, I do love Halloween and try to go out of my way while also telling my kid “hey, some kids might go to school with sweaters with tape and fabric on them so you be sure to tell them they look awesome too.”

Saw the live orchestra tour of “Into The Spider-Verse.” Highly recommend, if only to experience it in a new context. Did a great job of showcasing the music. Also, very cool that it was an all-women, predominantly POC orchestra. And man, “Spider-Verse” is just too good. I forgot how funny it is.
