I think about you all the time - LLL

Never fails with them. Every time they release a new album the tracks start reminding me and showing their faces of all the past versions of The Maine and they could just fit so well on other albums. At least to me.

    leave in five - AC
    thoughts I have - XOXO

Random thought, but it would be super cool if they got an opportunity to open the Jonas Brothers upcoming arena tour. Basing this off Joe posting that him and Nick were listening to “blame” on Instagram the other week and that this album (and the past few) could be a hit with that crowd.

they won’t get asked but they deserve some shine and more listeners(like a lot of bands, life isn’t fair)

Oooo I felt like even more so, how to exit a room, and possibly think about you. Agree on mood too though for sure.

    Things have changed.

JoBros just announced the opener, I think. Some band called Lawrence.

I'm not offended by the profanity or anything, I just don't think that song goes anywhere interesting. Feels like a bad bonus track.

"Hip-hop" and "nightclub vibes": things I think this band is bad at.

Fair - but on your 9th album, you should be allowed to try.

And for a “try” I think it’s pretty fuckin good. Unlike my favourite bands (3eb) “rap” song :crylaugh:

Haha, fair enough, on both points!

    Also, that 3EB song… *shudders*

We better not be speaking poorly of "Summer Town" and be talking more about whatever that mess on Screamer was!

'leave in 5' is really dua lipa inspired. even the bridge sounds like a pretty big lift from one of her big songs (I think it's 'don't start now')

"Summer Town" is my favorite, but no, I think we're talking about the thing on Screamer.

  12. I wish I was loving this as much as I loved the first two singles, or as much as everyone else, but a couple songs on here just aren't doing much for me. The chorus of "leave in five" deflates the whole song and "spiraling" feels like any indie rock/pop band in the past decade could have written it and usually the band puts their own spin on things.

Overall, the production is a little too slick for me as well.

The first three songs are my favorite, and I also love tracks 5-7. Everything else ranges for me. "funny how" feels like a missing track from folklore/evermore, so that's kinda cool even if it doesn't really feel like a The Maine track.

I think I could take all of my favorite songs from this and XOXO and make a killer record. You Are OK is still my favorite The Maine album by a long shot, it just does everything I love from them so well.

I guess I need to revisit YAO.

might be one of those late hitters for me. I do love when that happens tho. Revisiting a record you didn’t initially love and it becoming a favorite. We’ll see.

LLL floored me on first listen, You Are Ok took a few listens but then I got way more attached to it than I had with LLL. XOXO was a great collection of swings for radio play, but didn’t really speak to me beyond that, although sure I played the hell out of it. Self-titled makes me feel like I did when I heard LLL, and sonically it’s a mix of everything they’ve gotten good at.

Vibing with your opinions here too. I think Spiraling is just not good and feels really forced and out of place.

I do like the middle of this record quite a bit, and it should end at “cars & caution signs”. Even still, it would slot in way below LLL for me in their discography.

Spiraling and the mood I’m in are two of my favorite songs on the album. I love how some songs connect to some and not others.

Let me know if you make one. I'm great at making playlists out of selections from existing playlists on Apple Music or making playlists from setlists, but I've always sucked at making playlists for just one artist.
