Forgive me, I'm really excited for this album and I started rambling on about nothing but I decided to run through their entire discog, bonus tracks, covers, reworks, everything available on streaming (well except the In Darkness & Light score and the Christmas stuff). Feel like their music really does break down into 4 pretty distinct eras in a way that can't be said of a lot of bands

Era 1: The first two EPs, Can't Stop Won't Stop, And a Happy New Year, Black & White, and ends with In Darkness & In Light
Era 2: Pioneer, Good Love, Forever Halloween, Imaginary Numbers, and ending with Forever Halloween (Deluxe)
Era 3: American Candy, Covers EPs, Lovely Little Lonely, And to All a Good Night, and ending with Less Noise
Era 4: You Are OK, Live at the Orpheum stuff & assorted covers, XOXO, and The Maine

Era 1: beginning their career, neon pop punk band, attempt at major label
Era 2: Independent, re-discovering themselves, working out what their move will be going forward
Era 3: Using lessons from Era 2 to make music that is more wide appealing, perfecting their craft as an independent band (Less Noise being the perfect capstone/celebration of their success)
Era 4: A victory lap of sorts, really just firing on all cylinders, a band completely sure of what they do, and who they do it for. Will go on indefinitely barring a big style shift or shake up to how they do things

 

Good for them and makes sense given their overall band decisions in regards to labels/distro, etc. Is this ever normal nowadays? Would be really curious.

 

It just hit me that this album comes out next week. It always felt around the corner but never THIS close to the corner.

 

I’ve only listened to the first 2 songs like 3x each a month ago. Excited to listen to this mostly fresh for the first time…usually I’m unable to have that restraint haha

 

Pioneer is just always going to be so so special to me. It changed everything about what I thought this band was and every time I listen to it it still awes me

 

The best of pioneer and the b-sides is an incredible album.

 

How to exit a room is my favorite of the singles so far. Five more days!

Every time i hear "i don't need a plan if i've got your hand" at the end of "how to exit a room" i hear joe rogan.

Sorry everyone but i needed to share this.

 

I am so excited for this album

 

Need this in my life right now.

 

Singles have surpassed anything on XOXO for me, hope that trend continues.

Didn't really get into this band until Lovely Little Lonely. Dug You Are OK so much; didn't love XOXO. Stoked for this one though because How To Exit a Room rulez.
