Mission: Impossible II is kinda like Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It's bad at being in line with the series. But it's a good, entertaining movie by a cool director.

 

MI3 rules and is probably my favorite (granted I've only seen the first five?), you just can't beat Phillip Seymour Hoffman as a villain

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - 7.5/10. I liked it, but not as much as 3.

 

I saw this in theaters and hated it. Like 3/10 hated it. But I don't remember it well, so I'd actually like to hear your moderately approving take on it.

 

It's not Psycho, and it's fairly illogical, but as far as early-aughts atmosphere and performances (particularly Fanning) go, it's a slightly above-average and effective psychological thriller. Pretty cozy and easy to watch.

 

I am pleased to report that The Ring holds up!

 

I showed The Ring to my class in May. I was surprised how well paced and willing it was to build up scares rather than throw everything at the audience.

 

I think part of my hate was how overused the whole killer is me twist was at that time.

 

Saw and The Ring were the two horror movies got really got to me as a kid.

My favorite so far.

 

Friday the 13th - 8.5/10

Watched with a group, first time I ever heard a pop for the jump scare at the end because a bunch of them had never seen it. Such a fun time.

 

Oppenheimer kinda put me on a WWII kick so I decided to finally sit down and watch Come and See (1985). I wish I had planned on going to see Barbie again after that. One of the most devastating movies I've ever seen, it should be shown in schools.

My students talk through the dialogue scenes in Saving Private Ryan. They would riot if I showed Come and See.

 

A friend lent me the Criterion and I've just been waiting to ruin my day

 

Time of the Wolf - 7.5/10

 

The 40-Year-Old Virgin - 8/10, Steve Carell is so goddamn funny in this

 

Sick of Myself - 6.5/10

 

Mission Impossible: Fallout - 9.5/10
