He alluded to it in Nashville... said "there is some big shit coming, and you're fucking welcome"

Was fun to hear a "big things coming" from Tom in person

I wonder which song of the new album will sound the most like the Killers?

Tom’s “big things coming” = corporation’s “unprecedented times/we’re in this together” of 2020

  10. I wish I could remember how I felt about the wait for Untitled.

I had internet so I watched their shitty potato quality livestream sometimes. I think I saw Jerry on there once. And I saw Mark on there once. There wasn’t any audio from what I remember. Just choppy low quality video haha. I mostly remember just seeing a human-less room with a giant plush SpongeBob in the corner.

I remember being excited for the album and reading news/updates sometimes on MTV and whatever other sites, but I don’t remember starving for it. It wasn’t like it is now where we can kinda track everything they’re each doing every day. Ignorance was bliss. I knew they were recording and that was enough for me, maybe? I really don’t remember ever thinking “ugh! I can’t believe they are STILL recording!”

    Sith Lord.

This reminds me of when Saosin were livestreaming the second LP (In Search of Solid Ground) with Cove and everything you heard them demo in the studio sounded so sick and then you got the album and it was all glossed and popified and not the hype we got... That shit was weird.

Like, Hurley had a website you could watch them in studio live... A lot of times it was just Beau and Chris sitting there.

I remember they used to release video updates and I would watch them for hours to hear bits of songs. I was obsessed with 2 clips of Tom playing Not Now with different lyrics on an acoustic guitar and also recording voices for Asthenia. Mark had pink and yellow hair and they would play a lot of acoustic guitar and I expected a softer album. One of the first “finished” clips they released was Violence and I made a loop and burned it into a CD and listen to that 4 second clip millions of times too.

I’m hyped now but in 2003 I was totally OBSESSED.

live-streaming was ahead of it’s time then! The first time I remember a band doing that was the Band In the Bubble thing Cartel did

At least we had the Cheetah videos where we could piece lyrics, riffs together and see the song progress board in the background to decipher and hold us over. The live stream from their studio in “Fiji” was kind of a bust as SpongeBob is what I remember most from it watching on my 56k internet connection. This is just complete silence with a few studio pics. I have the feeling the guys just wanted to do a tour/album on their terms. No press, no radio, no meet and greets. Cutting out everything that could turn a reunion stale/monotonous that led to issues within the band in the past and just make this about the music and their friendship.

    Better than you, sorry

The more I think about it if you want the Tom delonge guitar it would be wiser to get the original. The reissue is just a reissue, from what I’ve read nothing has been “upgraded”. Once this limited run is over the value of the original should actually increase from the 1200 it’s at now. Different if you actually want to rock out on tour though

Would make sense if the market was flooded with the originals... in new condition... under $1,200... but it's not.

You’re not going to get something that old in new condition for under 1200. But last year I picked one up in decent condition for $900. Just did a quick search and the availability of the old one is very limited now. Year ago I had my pick(6)
