tickets are like $53 for Pierce the veil and fees were like $30 absolutely not fuck that

this was just a pure nostalgia for me but I can’t justify like $83 for PTV and maybe LS Dunes

 

same night as Death Grips here. in the same venue, different room, ticketed separately, ugh

 

Tbh… I don’t think DG has an opener and they play for about an hour, 15 so you could make the STYG set at least.

 

Can we talk about how the font and general aesthetic of that PTV tour poster is very august burns red? I CANT not see that

On the topic, can anyone conjure up the biggest fail in terms of tour estimated drawing and actual sales? The most obvious one that comes to mind is Sweedish House Mafia attempting to play NFL stadiums recently and failing miserably but I imagine there are some other good ones.

Also didn't Steve Aoiki try to do an arena tour that bombed? I remember he had an MSG show booked that got cancelled

 

Not on the same scale as that, but in 2010, Limp Bizkit attempted a "comeback" tour. Ice Cube was opening and Snoop was supposed to be on the bill as well... But he pulled out just before it got cancelled. It was in ampitheaters and wasn't selling very well.

What made it funny was the way LB tried to spin it: "An amphitheatre environment won’t allow us to do that with so many seats directly in front of the stage. Moving away from amphitheatres and into venues with appropriate floor space will allow more room for jumping, dancing, and moshing directly in front of the stage, instead of on a grassy knoll a hundred yards away. Ultimately, this is what we prefer."

They said they were going to do an arena tour instead but... That never happened. Obviously.

I mean, I guess it did. Just took another 10 years or so. Nostalgia cycles, baby!

 

It’s funny because thanks to nostalgia, if LB tried pulling off this tour today it would absolutely kill. Haha

 

I forgot about that! They played a 600-capacity club in NYC that was supposed to be an underplay/hard to get into promo show and I think you could buy tickets day of.

 

Exactly, people love nostalgia, and 2010 was just too soon. I bet if they brought back that Bizkit/Ice Cube/Snoop tour now and labeled it Family Values, it would sell very well.

somehow they were able to paper those arenas with comp tickets. The Toronto show for SHM was fairly full but like a week before 40% was unsold.

Around 2010-ish Avicii announced a U.S. arena tour that got cancelled pretty quickly due to low sales.

Chance has been teasing a new album “Star Line Gallery” and it was apparently supposed to come out this year but it’s been delayed to next year and unless the album is a banger I can’t see him even doing small arenas this time around.

 

Yeah the next Chance album needs to be solid, otherwise I think his career is done for. I still can’t believe how poorly The Big Day was received

 

Chance and Nicki Minaj should go on a tour called the “We tried to embark on an arena tour and then quickly realized we are not as popular as we used to be tour”

 

From my own experience, all of the Acid Rap fans I knew, including myself, were the white backpack-rap type crowd. Then when he pivoted to a more gospel sound, he essentially lost that crowd as it’s not a culture we’re too familiar with.

It didn’t help how cheesy he became with the excessive positivity.

 

Chance was pretty big but that album was a fucking dud so that tour was gonna flop heavily.

 

But would they do arenas?
