Love that album. The production is flawlessly crisp while atmospheric in the best way. Too bad they didn’t last long as a band

city lights are top tier pop punk for me, these are some of my favorite songs off their last album

the song that dude posted was from their first EP lol their full length albums are SOLID , especially their second one. they broke up around the time everyone quit beertooth after their first tour. so kam and oshie just slid right in! jobs a jobs a job. their other guitarist jeremey went onto to join Like Moths To Flames. the metalcore scene in ohio is strong \m/

Allister is like that too, HUGE in Japan, can play arenas and here at home in Chicago they play 300 cap clubs LOL its just the way it is over there, i think Europeans and people in Japan & China love that old 2000s pop punk sound more than most Americans.

thanks for this reminder, I went back and listened to the first Born Cages album today and it's really enjoyable. This might be a weird connection, but the singer reminds me of the Neon Trees singer, Tyler Glenn, a LOT

I know The Forecast are playing a few shows this year. Would love if they released new music.

Edit: Listening to their discography this morning and its making me nostalgic for the days of going through the liner notes of a CD to discover more bands.

Anyone ever get curious about what former members of once-successful(ish) bands are up to?

  10. I was reminiscing about that with someone recently. I discovered lots of bands that way.

8 times out of 10 I think the answer is real estate haha

  12. I do! It's always interesting to me. I feel like it's pretty rare that a bigger band breaks up and all the members start or join new bands. I feel like most of the time it's just the lead singer that moves on to something else, and then all the other members just fizzle out into society.

    Yeah must be strange

From a random search many of these guys are on LinkedIn and list their band days in their employmenhistory.

    Random selection:

Nick Gigler, the original Mest drummer, is a video editor.
Alex Pappas from Finch back in the day is in sound engineering.
Adam from Homegrown is a pastor and runs a Christian music label.

Think even Cyrus Bolooki from NFG does real estate now.

    Always.

Kenny from moneen did play for Say Anything on live shows for a while, he also does some other music stuff. The other members were in a band called Seas.

Justin from Motion City Soundtrack has a solo project, Matt works with the band TENTS, Tony does his own podcast Bizarre Albums (very good), Alison Rosen's podcast and plays drums for Don't Stop Or We'll Die.

Jason Call from Daphne Loves Derby does/did a lot of solo stuff as well as remastered some of their older work and got everything onto streaming platforms. He also released their records on vinyl and did shows with a "new generation" of the band who are basically long time fans. I think they formed a new group call You Vs The Sea. Kenny is a PHD Engineer now.

Brandon Reilly from Nightmare of You released a solo EP and still plays with The Movielife.

Dropping Daylight singer Sebastian Davin did some other projects, but most notably did the vocals for the US Code Lyoko soundtrack/music.

Rock Kills Kid (finally got information about them), lead singer was the band at first, members brought in to make the band a full band, studio marketed their album but the song "Paralyzed " got leaked on the radio messing up the plans, then the studio/radio situation screwed up their chances, the guitarist left, replaced with a new guitarist and they recorded a full second album which exists but was never released, band broke up. Bassist went on to play for Hole, lead singer moved to Hawaii and writes music for other people. There's a whole story from the original guitarist here:

I'll talk about some other bands when I get some more time! List off some bands if you want some information on them, I'll do some deep dives and internet research. Love doing that kind of stuff.

I discovered this band through the listening station at a Fred Meyer store. I was immediately hooked on this song's clip and I bought the CD and listened to it that whole summer.

Wow this is really funny to me. Homegrown was my first show. It was always funny to me the career they had before being reinvented as Drive Thru band. Surfer Girl was a jam way back in the day.
