Death Touches Us, From the Moment we Begin to Love Supporter

One of my best buds sends me a picture of some recent arrivals at a local record store near him and asks me if I'd be interested in any of the 6 lps shown. A certain Drive Thru bands debut album was in there I was like "dude throw him $40 with a straight face and walk away" haha.

He said the guy was going to hold the albums and price out a the lps for him and get back to him. I'm like well there goes the deal of the century haha.

But does the one have the music from the underwater dynamite section? There was music, right? I’m blanking but feel like I’d know it if I heard whatever sound there is there.

Right when I'm trying to cut myself off from buying so much, they go and do this on me. There's at least 4 albums from them that I NEED to have.

Where do you sell? Trying to get rid of some and they ain’t moving over there.

  14. honestly - I've become good friends with some of the shop owners here locally so they always buy my stuff for its true value. Not everyone is that lucky. I guess a lot of people are going back to eBay

Yeah I’ve just gone the eBay route. Has too many bad experiences with people on discogs

i never sold on discogs, but i definitely wouldn’t anticipate buying anymore if the prices are going to continue to skyrocket there. the state of collecting vinyl now sucks in general, with preorders of single LP records being $25+ and then the cost of shipping making sure it’s upwards of $35 now in total price. i’m sure purchasing anything with international shipping is just stupid expensive too.

this reminds me a lot of when i’d go into FYE as a teenager with a $50 gift card and walk out with 2 CD’s because each CD was like $18 at that point.

i sound so old and dated when i say this, but a decade ago new records were retailing for $15 or less. it’s just crazy to me how much things have skyrocketed in such a short amount of time. discogs is making the situation worse, which will inevitably lead to the facebook flip groups bumping their prices up even more too. oh well, i am thankful i got into the hobby a decade ago and not in the past year or two.

  22. yeah somethings gotta give and it'll probably be people buying less vinyl which ultimately will hurt bands and local stores

Yeah the cost of buying vinyl has skyrocketed over the past year, I’ve resorted to pretty much only buying used.

That said, I’m pretty bummed about Discogs. I started selling on there last year and love how easy it is to list compared to eBay.

I tend to buy a fair amount on Discogs, though only if it's the best price or a variant not available anywhere else.
