  3. Yeah, I really want that AAR record, especially with the 7”. But I’ve had too many “fuck it, you can’t take it with you” purchases this year and really need to be good for a while. Had to skip that Ben Quad pressing yesterday too

  8. Oh yeah a lot of indie labels still fucking legit

and I get it’s expensive now to press - I am not mad at any indie labels or bands per se

I have no self-control paired with the fact that I’m building a collection from zero. Basically want and need everything. Haha.

  11. Seriously! Look at us all basically buying CDs at the mall Sam Goody in the early 2000s again! We’re a bunch of fools.

I’m happy I was able to grab big chunks of my collection for $15-$25 a record at Hot Topic a decade ago haha.

Sam Goody was wild, they would charge $20 for a CD, but their selection was so much better than the big box stores.

I used to spend hours at the Sam Goody in Roosevelt Field on Long Island. It was a big store that had a huge selection of cds and a great vhs section with lots of rare and hard to find films. I spent a small fortune there as a teenager. Then Best Buy came to town and I’d walk in with $20-40 each new release Tuesday and walkout with (on average) 2 cds and 2 dvds. Insane.

  15. When I was living at home and just had a part time job and no bills, I’d blow my entire paycheck on CDs and DVDs. I’d come home with a full stack that I could barely carry. Those were the days.

Damn I would always be at that Sam Goody too! It had those listening stations too, I vividly remember it's where I discovered Rufio's Perhaps I Suppose and The Ataris' So Long Astoria.

I used to go to that mall back in the day. Does it still exist?

For me it was my first copy of AltPress, Eighteen Visions Obsession, and it's where I bought Coheed's Good Apollo the day it came out and asked them to open up the slipcover and throw that away for me because it had the parental advisory sticker and I didn't want my mom to see it.

I moved away about 13 years ago and since they’ve renovated it like crazy. The zepplin food court is gone. I hear it’s pretty unrecognizable from how we remembered it.

I discovered so much in those listening stations. If memory serves me right they were right off the escalator when you got in. God what a time.

man I'd bus from the Queens/LI border to that Best Buy just to save a few bucks compared to our local FYE.
