Speaking of Football Manager recently, I've done a few saves in Korea as Seongnam FC, becoming a fan of the team irl too, and one of the players I tended to sign was Jin Seong-Wook (or Jin Seong-Uk, as he is in game in FM22 I think?). Was always great for me as a LW Inside Forward, until they changed his position to RW/ST. It was super cool to see this morning that he had actually signed for them on loan for the rest of the season. Hope he does well, although he hasn't quite lit up the K League irl as much as he tended to do for me in FM.

Also very belated, but since I'm talking about Seongnam, I'm excited to see how Kim Ji-Soo gets on at Brentford over the next few years. He's being spoken about as the next Kim Min-Jae in terms of potential, and seeing a player go from K League 2 (where Seongnam is this season) to a Premier League team, even if he ends up in the B Team for now, is really cool. Heard we have a sell-on clause too, so hopefully Ji-Soo kicks on and Seongnam get a "big" fee (relative to the average K League fee, anyway) at some point in the future. Even 10% on a 40m transfer is massive for a K League team in general, nevermind a citizen club. He played a decent amount for Seongnam last season as a 17 year old, and by all accounts did pretty well, even as they got relegated, and I think rumours were that even Bayern were sniffing around at one point? It'd be great to see a player come from Seongnam's youth setup and play in a Top 5 league, so here's hoping he's able to progress a ton and live up to the hype.

(also just a reminder that if you're missing live football during the offseason and really want something to watch, the K League is still ongoing, and you can watch every match for free on the official K League website by just creating an account! I think only one match a day (or maybe one match a week?) has English commentary, and the rest are just stadium noise, but football is football! there are a few blocked countries, basically wherever a broadcaster has rights for it, but looking at this list it seems like the only country that would be blocked for someone here is maybe Germany? UK and US are fine, at least, and I'm not sure if we have people living anywhere else)

With the reports that your lot are planning on using Havertz as more of an advanced 8 instead of as a 9 I think you’re already off to a good start.

Makes you realise how bad it must have been for someone like Di Maria going to Manchester lol

It doesn’t mean much from me being from Dublin but I quite like both Manchester and Liverpool. I’d rather live there than down in the south of England but I think that’s mostly the people than the actual place. Would have more in common up that way than down south.

Are Manchester and Liverpool pretty similar to Dublin weather-wise?

I like Manchester tbh, it’s a fun city, but Brighton is certainly a bit better weather wise. Also I think it’s just one of the better places in the UK (alongside Bristol for me), it’s a really nice atmosphere.

I don't have much experience with cities in the South, but I love all the Northern cities - Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle are all great. Loads of culture, lovely restaurants, plenty of things to do.

However, I imagine it's a huge culture shock regardless for people coming from European cities. I've just binged through a Stanley Tucci documentary on Italian food (highly, highly recommend - it's on iPlayer) and god, what a lifestyle change it would be to go from that, to Manchester, or Newcastle. The weather is one thing, but it's an entire lifestyle change really.

Pretty much. Dublin would be on average 1 degree warmer throughout the year with slightly less rain and slightly more sunshine than Manchester. But functionally yeah same climate.

Damn, Elon finally caught on that you didn't have to have a Twitter account to see specific accounts.

  16. Liverpool needing to address their midfield and successfully adding Mac Allister and Szoboszlai is good business. I think both are great fits for Klopp. Who is going to be their starting DM? Fabinho?

It’s wild that he can be arrested for this. In America you’d be elected President.

  18. So far I've liked all of our CB targets. Tosin looks promising.

I've never been to Brighton but I've got family just north of there in Burgess Hill. I've heard nothing but good things about the "community". Weather wise it's usually spot on during the summer, too.

I currently live a similar distance away from both Liverpool and Manchester. It's a toss between the two for me, usually, as in I find both places hospitable and they both have their pros/cons. Being so close to both areas is a luxury, really.

I've also spent a lot of time down South, too. Mostly in Cambridge and London areas. I'd absolutely recommend Cambridge but London is far too colossal for me haha.

It’s funny to see players complain about England and the northern cities particularly, a city like Manchester is practically idyllic for someone like myself. The southeast of the US where Garrett and I live has such high humidity percentages that i’ve lived enough summers of swamp like conditions and high 30s temperatures to last a life time.

We just put in an above ground pool and I'm looking forward to spending my entire life outside of work in it this summer simply to not feel sweaty even when inside. It's great.

    What’s high humidity for you?

The more terrifying answer may be what’s considered low for those of us in the south. Which is anything under 70% for me haha
