The percentage of people who were interested in FF7R but didn’t buy it because it wasn’t the full game surely is only like 2-3% max, right?

 

Yeah MAX, and they ultimately bought it imo lol.

 

Maybe, I get the argument though because kinda a combination of what Moose and Dan said, people who were into FF7 already are gonna get FF7R and stuff, and maybe the split into parts caused people who don't typically buy FF titles to not try it, but FF16 pulled in a lot of people who didn't play any FF including 7R because they "weren't geeks" and that results in these kinda numbers for each title

At the end of the day idc much outside of just wanting people to experience things I like

 

Honestly, the criticism of FF7R not being a full game isn't fully valid to me, because the R might as well stand for Remix.

Also, it's Final Fantasy fucking 7.

 

I’m coming from a place that I was pretty damn bummed that it wasn’t the full game or turn based. So much that I didn’t play much when it first came out (I still bought it day 1 but I buy everything Day 1), then naturally I came back and absolutely love the game now.

 

Yeah I'm in a place where if it wasn't Tetsuya "Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days Recoded Remix 5" Nomura doing his newest interpolation of Final Fantasy 7 I'd understand it feeling like it's not a full game and being too segmented, but because of that I just have to interpret it as a full game haha. But I understand it not drawing in the 12 people who haven't heard of Final Fantasy 7.

I still haven't really revisited it, not because of it not being turn based but because of how much I'm not big on Midgar and also didn't enjoy some of the gameplay (I liked playing as Cloud and Tifa for example but playing as Barret sucked) and how grating I found some of the voice acting (one of my friends said Final Fantasy has a habit of making POCs like Barret and Sazh complete caricatures and I couldn't agree more)

I get people were upset about Yoshida's comments about FF16 not having diversity but honestly as I've played it and then compared it to past FF entries with POCs I think it makes sense, especially when looking at the ways FF16 is telling its story and how CBU3 has told stories of racial injustice in the past like in Heavensward. I think the statement was messy as all hell from Yoshida but I think how this is working makes sense as I'm playing through it. I'm paraphrasing a rant by the above friend who said it much more eloquently than me

One of these days I'll get back to 7 Remake but I have no idea when

 

FFXVI is making me want to check-out the 7 remake at some point, but I already know the big beats of that and the original

 

The gameplay is great tbh I love that game

 

7R is a super well crafted game by a team that clearly adores the original. The sequel is going to be tremendous, they have so much more material to work with now that its not just set in dumpy Midgar.

 

Yeah not being in Midgar anymore has me SO excited for Rebirth

 

I bought a train VS-like on steam but havent tried it yet. It’s called choo choo something or another.

An old game that I'm sure most of you have played, but Ghosts of Tsushima is a banger. The melee combat is both a challenge and easy at the same time and I love it for that (IE - I feel like I'm having to do a lot, and it's tough to time everything JUST right, but in the end, I'm doing enough to scrape by in all but the toughest encounters). I enjoy the story and the way the world and map is explored. I think I'm close to the end of act 1 but I have done a lot of the 'stupid' stuff like fox dens, bamboo strikes etc.

We'll see where the plot goes, but Uncle needs to wise up to the ways of war, as I'm assassinating everyone from stealth whenever I can. Nothing dishonorable about leaping 10ft from a roof and slicing some Mongol's neck open.
