that's wild and fantastic. it sounds like they are unwilling to sell to another premier league team so this is a logical landing spot

Teemu Pukki's gone to MLS. The real GOAT. Is MLS ready?!

Minnesota should start seeing more chances finished now with the Reynoso renaissance and Pukki up front. Will be worth keeping a close eye on.

Inter Miami having lost 7 in a row adding two of the greatest and most intelligent to ever do it should be an interesting barometer of MLS as a league/them as players. I think the league is much better than it gets credit for, but should Miami go on absolute tear, the narrative will be interesting.

Yeah, I'm with ya on this but I am still very skeptical they will be able to. Even if the rest of the league lacks technical ability to actually play well, there are a number of players who are speedy as fuck in the midfield who can at least press Messi/Busquets enough to get bodies around them. I can't make any assumptions about what might happen after that but it seems the move might to be pressure drop a player or so off Messi/Busquets and press the other far-less talented Miami players. This might prevent them from delivering the ball to M/B. Of course the task becomes all the more difficult if Alba also transfers in.

On a slightly related note to Miami's chance at the playoff this year, here's a cringe video which still makes a good point:

  10. If Bayern offers 100m and Levy allows Kane to leave, the name that comes to mind for his replacement is Kolo Muani. I’ve read we’ve scouted him in the past so he’s at least on the radar. And he can play out wide if needed which still gives Richarlison minutes at ST.

I don’t know how hard it’d be to pull off that deal though. I’m sure every big club wants him.

This is such a good and touching way to articulate something I have thought about for a while re: The Multi-Club Model and what happens to the fans of clubs who essentially become feeders for Chelsea, Man City, RB Liepzig, etc.

It probably comes as no surprise that I hate the concept, but it’s going to get worse for sure.

On a more general note, I know MLS is likely viewed as a "retirement" league around the world and while that might be true, it is ALSO true that MLS has turned into a decent 'lil development league. They may not be the best, but it can no longer be disputed that MLS has become a destination for talented players looking to showcase their abilities to make moves elsewhere. That may not be ideal for the league, but it seems to be indicative of a trend toward progressing the overall quality of the league.

I'm also assuming that more than any other time in the league's history, players are being called to represent their national teams (or have already done so in the past). Also seems to be a good thing that an increasing number of MLS academy players are being purchased to play in leagues with much more storied histories.

Just an interesting time to be a fan and the next few years will only be more intriguing as the world cup approaches.

I had concerns over Johnston joining us (Celtic) but when he did, he's been one of the best players and I love him.

Think there's a lot of good deals to be had for a club like us in MLS.

Also still trying to decide what MLS club I like / should support after watching some more MLS recently but not sure

I am losing track of all the former-MLS players playing elsewhere now. Hated when Johnston played against Orlando because I knew he'd always give us trouble. Glad he's settled in at Celtic.

I have felt the same way about other leagues in Europe. Definitely have enjoyed becoming a bit of neutral for most of the leagues outside of the Bundesliga.

Some great seasons happening for new and new-ish clubs this year that have been fun to keep up with.

St. Louis is playing incredibly well for their inaugural season and are exceeding expectations as they sit atop the western conference.

Cincinatti is playing historically well by despite being utter garbage their first few seasons.

Nashville's Hany Mukhtar is making a strong case to repeat as League MVP (which has never happened as far as I am aware). Playing on a team that is just mostly solid all-around.

Then there have been the clubs who've generally been top-tier the last few seasons: Seattle, New England (last season being an anomaly), Philadelphia, LAFC.

But week in and week out, there are always upsets that are bound to happen but are difficult to anticipate (Vancouver over LAFC and DC United over Cincinatti this weekend).

There's just enough going on which would (hopefully) sustain your neutral interest until you land on a club you really prefer :)

    Appreciate it!

Definitely have more of an interest in players, mainly that used to play for us - was pleased to see Giakoumakis do so well at Atlanta but seems to have been struggling recently (but that seems an Atlanta thing generally?). Wanyama. Was delighted for Deila when he won with NYC as well. Saw that Sviatchenko joined Houston recently. Gauld as a Scot!

I think one of the Eastern teams is probably more likely so I can watch them and not be up too late every weekend :)

After watching the MLS for a few weeks, my main takeaways are that some of the kits absolutely slap (Nashville’s yellow, Charlotte’s purple, Inter Miami & St Louis’s pink)

I used to love the Dynamo jerseys. I had like 3 of them nearly a decade ago. The white, orange and baby blue was a great colour scheme but I think they’ve gotten rid of the baby blue and white now :tear:

I’ve got Orlando, Vancouver, and Seattle jerseys too somewhere. Used to pick one up every time I went to the US.

A generous reading of it would be because it was essentially the same as your rejected bid.

  23. Levy wanted to get this deal done last year and Conte didn’t want Maddison. Makes me wonder how much of a difference he would’ve made had Conte approved it.

Good signing that. Spurs making some good moves this summer so far.

  25. Son - Kane - Kulu
    Benny - Maddison - Bissouma

Bentancur is out until October. Kane may not stick around. But on paper, with an attack-minded manager, that is pretty good. Of course the defense is still a mess, so work to do. But it’s hard not to be optimistic about those 6 guys in your starting lineup.
