Finally listening to Scaring the Hoes, this shit goes crazy

 

Andre is definitely not dropping anything and if he is then it’s probably not hip-hop

 

Even if he does it would have to be incredible to live up to anyone’s expectations. Not to say it couldn’t be but….

 

Honestly wouldn’t be mad if it was a jazz flute album.

re: the xxl list, the luh tyler album from earlier this year was pretty solid imo -- dope production and fun bars even if his subject matter gets a bit samey (which I would partially attribute to him being 17 lol)

A few tracks in and its okay. Idk if he’ll ever surpass his run from 2014-2019

 

it’s incredibly consistent

no filler

 

That’s interesting bc nothing has stood out for me at all. I miss the catchiness of So Much Fun but obviously I guess this is not meant to be a “fun” album

 

The highs of this album are classic Thugger while the lows of this album are like you are given me his throwaways to his throwaways. Portions of this album I think are a great. Takes until about Cars Bring Me Out for me to start liking this.

“Oh U Went” is pretty cool.

I feel like I probably won’t be returning much to this one. Not really hearing his personality throughout. Damn how disappointing. I remember the days when Thug was the best and most original rapper out there. Barter 6, Jeffery, SS3, BTG, and So Much Fun remain nearly perfect releases in my eyes. Maybe I need to give this one some time.

 

I agree but to be fair that was an absolutely INSANE run. This is still one of the best projects of the year tho and it’s basically just thrown together loosies.

none of his other projects give me that

 

You really can’t expect to hear his personality in the same way as those projects you mentioned on an album that producers made from pre-recorded tracks while he’s sitting in jail though.

 

Haha this is crazy to me but I’m glad you’re enjoying it that much. It doesn’t hit the same as B6, Slime Season 1 or 2, or BTG for me personally but I don’t think anything ever really will. This is good though. Always happy to have any new music at all from the GOAT himself.

 

Yeah pretty wild take that this album immediately resonates more than the others—some of the best hip-hop albums of the 2010’s—but glad it’s hitting for you. I might need to give it another listen when I’m more in the mood. To be fair I listened to this as soon as I woke up for the day haha

 

I just really like it. there are no songs that stick out to me as bad and there’s always at least one or two that I feel that way about. it’s certainly not the height of his artistry but it’s consistently good and in a very disappointing year for the genre insofar as sales and big names dropping, maybe I’m just grateful to have it
