Definite step up from Woodstock. Need more time with it before comparing to the rest of their discography. LOVED the double header of Time’s a Fantasy and Doubt.

 

Very excited to listen ASAP

 

Pretty solid overall. Last track is a great ender.

 

I’ll definitely give it more spins and more attention this weekend but the first two listens while working didn’t do a whole lot and only a few moments stuck out. It was just kinda… there.

 

Yeah this along with Woodstock do nothing for for me unfortunately

 

Wasn't too excited for this but kind of enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Just not sure it's something that's really going to get me to come back to it, particularly this year when it feels like an endless sea of releases.

 

Feel like this is a better direction for them than Woodstock. Really enjoyed it

 

I’m digging this a lot more than I expected after hearing “Dummy” in the Taco Bell commercial as the only real exposure to the singles prior to release

 

Yea this is great. Small step in a good direction from Woodstock but not going to please anyone looking for them to go back to the sound of anything pre Satanic Satanist

 

This LP sounds great when driving on a multi-lane highway at late afternoon on a hot summer day

 

“Grim Generation” is my immediate highlight/the one that went straight onto my 2023 songs playlist

 

Not loving this. A few good songs which is better than Woodstock which I only liked one song off of. Don’t think this band is for me anymore unfortunately. Thankful for their earlier stuff that still slaps.

 

It's very poppy, but the grooves are there at times! Gotta check back again which song it was, but the flow between 3/4 and 4/4 bars in verses switching back and forth felt good while I took it on my headphones while running yesterday

 

I actually really really dig this which is a surprise to me.

Swing and a miss of an album for me. Just not the kind of music I want from them.

 

It's much better on headphones but still leaves me wanting more. A few parts I dug like the song that has the Evil Friends type synth but overall. John said in that Rolling Stone interview he wanted to go back to weird music after this one so I'm hopeful for the future.

 

Since it's been soooo long since we got an album, I had feeling that this was going to ultimately be underwhelming due to my expectations, but so far, there's some bangers on here. Thunderdome and Summer of Love are both great. Dummy didn't really hit as a single too much, but it fit between the 2 aforementioned tracks pretty well.

Honestly, as selfish as this is to say (and it's tongue in cheek), I'd be okay if their popularity weened a little bit so I could see them again in a mid sized venue instead of a concert or amphitheater.

 

Personally I'd rather they become the largest band in the world so John can pay for his daughter's treatment without any issues.

 

I'm completely unaware of this, and like I said, it was a tongue in cheek comment. Every band deserves whatever success they can garner based on their popularity. These guys also seem to use their platform well, even if I'm not 100% versed in the issues they seem to be tackling the most (Native American). Had no idea about an illness in the family so apologies if I seemed callous. Just the concert lover in me making a joke.

I got through the whole album, and I like pretty much all of it, but need more time to digest and see if it has the staying power of some of their older records.

 

I think I like this more than Evil Friends. This one has no skips. That one does.
