Great record. And what a good review. Hogan’s kicker gave me goosebumps.

“Prizefighter” is still my favorite song here but I think this is my favorite since The Year of Hibernation. Wondrous Bughouse has its moments but still loses me every now and then.

  3. $30 before shipping for a 30-minnute single LP? Come onnnnn. It's 100 Gecs all over again

I balked as well. Sucks being priced out of a hobby. And I don’t really want to transition back to CD’s because I’ve spent the last 15 years buying vinyl….there’s a big gap and that would bother the shit out of me.

Am I the only one that loved Savage Hills Ballroom, so many standouts on that one

I loved that record! I do think this one is even better though.

What does Youth Lagoon sound like?

  8. This one gives me Sufjan and Purple Mountains vibes with a little psychedelic twist, but this is the only one I've listened to

Just listen to The Year of Hibernation. It’s chamber/bedroom indie rock that at times feels like it could fit in an amphitheater.

  10. moving to more psychedelic stuff, undeniably big stuff for the next two and then kinda scaling it back for HIAJ but still managing to sound massive

  11. AOTY, the first three-song run on this is unbelievable. "Idaho Alien" is devastating and then "Prizefighter" makes for a beautiful one-two punch

You will almost certainly be into it. Particularly Year of Hibernation.

  15. Mute is still his best song imo

Yeah, 100%. Year of the hibernation is his best. Probably the closest sonically to this.

Never listened to Youth Lagoon before but decided to check it out and yea it’s really good. Gonna have to dive into the catalog.

  22. Yeah, I'm listening to this like twice a day lol. "Mercury" is very Sufjan, "Helicopter Toy" veers into Sigur Ros territory

"I'm back to work, that's over, now all I want is fun/Yeah my work ain't hard, but it's got to be done"

Yeah, pretty sure this is my current AOTY. Played it for my girlfriend today who had somehow never heard of Youth Lagoon and she was blown away and immediately added all his stuff to her library.
