I'll second both of Tim's recs. Kelly's West Coast Avengers as a follow-up to Hawkeye is also fun. And since we're talking Unlimited here and not just general recs, absolute read the It's Jeff! infinity comic.

If you enjoy the lighthearted stuff, Ryan North & Erica Henderson's Squirrel Girl is one of my favorite books ever. As is Chip Zdarsky's Howard the Duck.

I really enjoyed most of Jason Aaron's Thor run. I'm just about getting to the end of it now for the first time and it's starting to drag right before War of the Realms, but the early stuff with Gorr all the way through everything with Jane as Thor was great.

Immortal Hulk, or anything by Al Ewing really.

In addition to HoX/PoX and X-Men books. Daredevil by Chip Zdarsky is one I rec a lot. Aaron’s Thor is great. Read it myself in a couple of weeks and it really made me a Thor fan.

Some of this Hickman Ultimate stuff feels like he’s New-52-ing earth 1610, though maybe it’ll be closer to Rebirth or even his own HoXPoX. Regardless, definitely curious was kinda storytelling vehicle it ends up being for other creators.

Personally, little these days interests me less than being sold a whole line of comics, which is why I’m at a lull in reading ongoing X-books & finally dropped Radiant Black. However, I do love me a story that uses familiar superhero iconography without overbearing continuity. So, if exactly one series spinning out of that has a match-up of writer, artist, and characters that feels made for me, that’ll be a win.

Funny, that stuff is like crack to me. My two favourite things in comics now.

You and most of the comic (and arguably wider entertainment) industry it seems, lol. Idk, maybe some of it is me having a shit attention span, but like, too much of any singular ~*thing*~ tends to be tough for me.

I am looking forward to picking one or two Fall of X books to read monthly, after not really reading anything this year yet besides the second half of Dark Web and this week’s Mutant Strike Force one-shot. (I’m still buying New Mutants, but fell behind on actually reading it shortly after Vita Ayala left.) The one I feel most eager to read monthly is Dark X-Men.

New version of Birds of Prey launching this fall from the fucking killer creative team of Kelly Thompson, Leonardo Romero, & Jordie Bellaire!

Black Canary, Batgirl, Big Barda, Zealot, & Harley Quinn. That Romero art is absolutely gorgeous, truly top tier superhero comic work. This is now the one Dawn of DC launch I care about.

I’ve only sporadically dipped into “Birds of Prey” comics over the years tbh, but the general consensus take in fandom is Gail Simone’s run. Which, makes sense. Looks like the book “Birds of Prey: Murder and Mystery” collects the start of her run.

I really enjoyed The Batgirl and the Birds of Prey series from the Rebirth era, but I don't think anyone else really did.

Oh man I genuinely think Immortal X-Men #12 is one of the best single issue comics in a while. Brilliant comic.

Uh single issue probably isn’t the best way to word that as you do need the background of following Destiny of X.

That Silver Age run of ASM by John Romita & Stan Lee is one of my favorite batches of superhero comics, period. And, he was deeply influential as the art director of Marvel in the 70s & 80s. Truly one of the best to do it, RIP.

I've been slowly reading through Age of Apocalypse and it's been rough for me. I think it might have to do with the order the trades collect everything. But I'm almost done so there's that.

Yes, let’s fucking go! Valentine Smith’s art absolutely rules. Very excited to own a proper physical edition of this comic.

Hallows' Eve is such a good character. Like maybe the coolest powers ever? I'm really glad that her solo series has been fun. I hope she sticks around, maybe finds her way onto a team (and most importantly Midnight Suns 2)

  22. Thoughts on the following? Probably won't get to them anytime soon with my backlog, just thought I'd ask away anyway

Miller: Dark Knight Returns / Year One / Master Race / Golden Child
Loeb: Dark Victory / Long Halloween / Hush
Murphy: White Knight / Curse of the White Knight / White Knight: Harley Quinn

Long Halloween is probably my favorite Batman comic so I will always recommend it. White Knight was also really good but has had diminishing returns with each subsequent series in the universe.

The best thing on this list is easily Year One, as far as I’m concerned. Such a gorgeously illustrated comic, among my favorite things DC has ever published.

Golden Child isn’t a great comic story-wise, lol, but it’s unhinged in a way I personally find fun, and the art is gorgeous. Rafael Grampá actually has a new Batman mini coming this fall that he’s both drawing and writing, which looks like it’ll be similarly stunning.

Loeb comics mostly just exist as vehicles for the good artists he’s been lucky to work with, imo. Not a fan of Loeb himself, lol.
