People not making a post in this thread is not equivalent to glossing over it. If you mean the fan base at large, sure. But again, what can this thread do? It seems like your point is more that you want people to post in agreement of you more than anything. Which is pointless.

No, I agree that it should be talked about more in regards to the band and what they generally stand for. Doesn't matter if you know who they are or not, the band still brought them onstage and platformed them more.

I do also think there's a most likely chance the band knows fuck all about what Uzi has done, like legitimately no idea. However that's when fans who are willing to bring up the conversation like steve and others can let them know, it doesn't have to be in a malicious way but just having the general knowledge would be something the band, and especially Hayley, would ideally like to have and take forward.

And that kind of starts with at the very least addressing it in public fan forums like this

Sure. It was posted here. I agree, that’s good. But insisting everyone actively make a post in reaction is odd.

I was a fan of Uzi before all the bad shit he did made news. I get people might not know who he is and what he did, but if a band like Paramore is into him enough that they bring him to perform, they should know or at least fucked up by somehow not coming across it. When I heard, I was disappointed in Paramore. Kind of a weird attitude to have towards irthesteve, but go off.

Feel free to link me if I missed something. But we don’t know if the band are into him or what they know. It’s possible he is a fan and a connection made this happen. Did I miss something?

  10. It always seems veryyyy unlikely to me in scenarios like this that the band themselves would be completely oblivious. They’re obviously close enough friends that they feel comfortable with inviting them on their stage. So you’d think that they probably know something about them. Especially in this case where it is something that’s relatively recent, like in the last 15 months or whatever?

I get that people in this thread might not know who he is. I feel like where the Venn diagram intersects between Uzi and Paramore fans skews a lot younger (as with Uzi fans in general). The fact is that they’re one of the most popular rappers out there and just had their first crossover hit that’s still rising on Top 40 radio. And their upward trajectory continued uninhibited with the fact that they pleaded no contest to abusing their girlfriend and putting a gun to her stomach within the past couple of years.

As said, benefit of a doubt, maybe Paramore didn’t know any of that. Maybe they just heard a hot, young artist really liked them and invited him onstage. Regardless, fans are calling them out on that and their co-sign on them (posting a pic and tagging them in a pic onstage with them) only further legitimizes them. For a band known for calling out bullshit, it’s a bad look no matter how much knowledge they had because someone on their team has to have it now.

Yea I was giving benefit of the doubt, didn't know how many years their friendship was ongoing. I assumed Uzi did the Paramore cover within the last year or so and they noticed so things aligned with them being in NYC or something. Definitely makes it a little more iffy.

Hayley deletes her social media on a regular basis. To me, it is entirely plausible she has never heard the allegations. I don't follow Zac/Tyler so have no clue how online they are.

It is also completely fair to question the band as to whether they knew - and if they did, that is far more concerning. But it also

I don't have an issue with fans calling it out, but I also don't expect musicians I like to google "celebrity name allegations/problematic" all the time.

I think fans have a right to care and should 100% ask questions, but this shouldn't be a 'let's drag them until they apologise for their actions' type issue.

I mean, I guess the part of them possibly not knowing is where we’ll have to agree to disagree. If I am a big band like Paramore, and me and a biggish rapper are fans of each other for years (2016), there’s no way I don’t know about legal drama, especially something that fucked up. I just don’t see how that’s possible.

With all this being said, I get everyone deals with accountability issues when it comes to their favorite artists differently. Not trying to start shit, just my two cents. Hell, The 1975 still has me conflicted.

  18. I agree with your general point here but I just want to add that Uzi has been huge for a while. They have two number one albums from 2017 and 2020, XO Tour Life was a massive single for them, and they even have a number 1 single with Bad and Boujee. It honestly blows me away that anyone in here hasn’t heard of them because they’ve been one of the biggest artists in the world for like 6 years.

  19. Heard of em, never listened though. At least not knowingly. Never even heard of Bad and Boujee though.

I’m not one to say what responsibility the band has here, nor how much that changes if they know vs don’t know, but to Steve’s point, there is an overwhelming number of band threads on this site that have spurred much longer conversations and asked much more from artists for similar offenses. And in those threads, “the band probably didn’t know” or “this person isn’t that famous” have never been defensible positions, especially once there was at least a little more public info about whatever they did.

Again, idk what the answer or red line is here, I’m not saying the band should be flamed, and maybe there really is nothing more to say, but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen something like this pass over a popular band’s thread so quickly. irsteve’s (I think) claim that it was “glossed over” is totally reasonable and not being able to appreciate how it could at least look like a double standard is astounding to me.

Show in DC last night was amazing even though the sound mixing was trash, I still had an amazing time. Incredible how popular they are getting with selling out all of these arena tours, and Hayley has just become one of the best frontpeople in music, I literally cannot take my eyes off of her the entire time any time I see them and she's only getting better and better

And yes they shouldn't have brought out Uzi but luckily I got to see the congressman instead. Was at the 1975 show he was at and got a shoutout at too, seems like an awesome guy

It’s truly easy to avoid/miss huge things if you have taken time to really set up your feed to your preferences as far as entertainment things go. World events seem to still get through. But, if I’ve ever seen their name, I scoffed at it, and moved on. Same to Bad and Boujee now. If people like it, cool. But does not appeal to me on the surface level at all. My entertainment is comfort, I don’t spend much time looking beyond what I know these days. Which isn’t necessarily great, but it makes it super easy to have no clue who this is, while still acknowledging they are famous.

This is true and what I should have said is even though they’ve been huge on the charts, “Just Wanna Rock” seems to have given them even bigger crossover success, where they’re going on Nickelodeon and such. Without a doubt, they’ve been big, but I wasn’t hearing “Tour Life” on Top 40 stations or anything.

It's not dense. It means it we haven't heard of him, it's very well possible that Hayley doesn't know anything about who he is either
