This is incredibly poignant, I wonder if it's intentional on their part

 

I wasn't completely blown away by the finale, but it was really good overall. I do think it was a funnier episode than people are giving it credit for. The guns in the car was probably the biggest laugh, but there were other great little moments like the grenade, Barry telling Sally "I don't think that's God's plan for me", Barry's last word being "Wow", and then the terrible movie adaptation of his life.

This will certainly go down as one of my favorite shows of all time.

 

Rip Torn's Chekov's gun was also very funny

People are allowed to write negative reviews lol, it's weird to sit around laughing and mocking them

I cannot imagine defending barstool in any way.

 

If they saw you fall over on the street, they’d laugh, call you a slur and mock you then post about it. They need no defending.

 

I'm not defending barstool but people do it in other threads with other things too

 

I waited to watch any episode from this season, which was very hard, but just finished my binge of the whole thing.

Great end to one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. Only show I can think of from the past few years that surpassed it for me personally was Better Call Saul. As with any truly great show, it’s always sad to see an end.

Sarah Goldberg is fantastic. Whole cast was perfect. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Bill Hader’s career moving forward.

Probably a lot of it was out of shock but his delivery there was perfect

I need to sit with the ending for a bit but my initial thought is it was a little disappointing but not terrible. Overall great show, I don’t think it needed any more seasons.

 

Overall, the time jump was my biggest gripe this season, but I enjoyed the decisions made for the character endings. Really appreciate the dark comedic ending of the movie being made completely glamorizing Barry and condemning Gene. Felt quite fitting. Small oversight that erked me but didn’t ruin it: Jim leaving Barry alone without considering his escape. Jim completely forgetting his motivation for breaking the law and kidnapping/torturing Barry just to switch gears to Gene and not care that Barry could escape seemed out of character. Everything with Sally, Barry, Hank, and Fuches checked out well for me.

 

Took me a little while to get fully on-board with the time jump, but I thought the series wrapped up nicely in a way that felt very true to what Barry was.

Ultimately, what a great vehicle for Bill Hader and everyone else involved. Such a cool, original show that really deserved all its praise.

Hader has been a favorite of mine since his SNL days, but his growth during the course of this series has been really fun to watch.

 

Listening to those last two episodes of the podcast, it just shows why a writers’ room is a necessary, rather than one writer carrying a show on their back and never getting challenged on their worst impulses. For all the smart things Hader did, he definitely had some bad ideas that didn’t make the cut and admits the show is better without them.

 

I watched the first 2 seasons of this when they first aired and enjoyed them. When season 3 was released last year I started the first episode and was completely lost. I forgot everything from the first 2 seasons and just turned it off. A year later and Im trying to pick up the pieces and start season 3. I'm almost through episode 2 of S3, still a bit lost, but going to keep going.
