Just saw The Cure in LA and they played for over 2.5 hours. I would like to believe they’ll give them plenty of time at Riot.

I want to go for many reasons, but catching the cure one last time may make this happen for me

When they played in 2014 they got 2 hours and 14 minutes. I assume they will give them at least 2 hours or more again.

Well, that explains what happened with Danzig.
This reminds me, in 2019 Behemoth was on the website but then they were deleted, they were playing same day as Slayer if I remember correctly

He could have booked the show for Monday night and kept all the out of towners. This is a terrible idea on his behalf. Danzig I is an all timer but who knows how much longer The Cure has. I’d gladly pay for that Danzig show too.

Wonder why they dropped Riot and chose a headline show? Playing that album at Riot seems like a no-brainer, but maybe other stuff was in play

I feel like it probably had to do with set time. I could see Danzig not wanting to go on super early and if he was set to be on Roots... The Cure would be starting at like, 7:30 or so which would have put a Danzig set starting at 6:30ish.

This is assuming they were meant to be playing Sunday. Definitely a weird look, though... Fully agree that a Monday night show would have been a better play.

When he played in 2017 his set was at 5.20, with At The Drive In closing that stage. And Gogol Bordello and QOTSA playing the main stage.

Considering Mars Volta is closing Roots this year, maybe they offered him a side stage and he didnt wanted anything but a main stage (?)

Well those other bands playing with Danzig would probably have never been booked for Riot. so I guess an after show is fine - I will be way too fucking tired to go

Also sounds like more bands may be announced..

I was really hoping to get the album plays today since that is when we got them last year! Darn!

I'm doubting were getting too many new bands, if any

I would assume they would have listed “more bands” in the coming announcements if we were.

That Danzig show is 18 plus so I do wonder if they will eventually change the time or not and it stays at 7

Maybe a stupid question: but what the hell is the point of an 18+ show? I understand a 21+ show allows the bartenders to not have to card everyone— but 18+ just seems like a great way to miss out on some potential ticket sales with no logistical advantage

Helps with what time the shows can end. Most venues in the city if it’s all ages it has to be over with by 10pm. Tho that never seems to have ever applied to Aragon. Most if not every single show I’ve gone to there has gone to 1030 or 11pm

Tho If I’m being completely honest out of all the shows and venues I’ve been to I think hob is the only place that actually follows it and I think the stadiums and arenas have an exception and don’t have to follow it at all.

I saw a few articles saying it was the "intial lineup", plus them mentioning Surprises in that tweet.. I'm Not thinking anything crazy or acts that will move tickets.. maybe 5 or so additions like last year (and I'm including Gwar possibly TBS), no headliners but an act in the same realm as Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg or Coolio

Chicago ordinances I believe. You can’t have all ages events run past 11 (?) Unless I’m mistaken. And this is assuming you’re talking aftershows
