I think they needed that scene. The entire show has been slow and thoughtful, no need to be so jarring now.

I unsubbed from the thread because I was behind, some loose thoughts

Loved Misty's Caligula dream, perfect bizarre stuff for her to be thinking about. Still not into the murder mystery stuff, the whole Adam plotline was weird and its dragging on for so long because of this. Wish he just died and it went away.

The Shauna beating up Lottie scene was great, not sure how they deal with her after that. Same thing with Nat after she runs. And Travis telling Nat she's a good person only for her to be responsible for getting his brother killed later? That's gonna be rough.

I feel like the Antler Queen and the general "darkness" "wilderness" whatever isn't a literal wilderness, but from sort of cult in the past. Whoever made up that symbol and built the cabin, or killed the guy in the cabin, or whoever was using the cave that Javi found. Somebody did all that stuff before, they must've left behind lasting affects to keep it happening again.

The therapist going full evil vision I saw coming but was really well done.

I like the idea that the Pit Girl is part of this card drawing ritual, whoever gets picked has a chance to run for their life and the wilderness ultimately chooses who dies next. Then they go further and further in making it hard to escape, each person making their own traps and safe places to hide. It'll be interesting to see things get more and more complicated.

Also something I haven't seen anyone talk about in here, is that Krystal's body is gone. If they're talking about doing something that will make some fans upset, I could definitely see a clearly possessed Krystal returning to the cabin, fully embodying the evil entity. And Misty knowing she died but being unable to say anything would be a perfect twist.

I don't know what happens in the present timeline but Van having cancer means she's probably gonna end up gone. Shame, love her modern day actress.

There was some great parts in this. Great performances (Elijah fucking Wood killed it). Some real bold choices that I liked in theory, just the execution of some of those choices felt kind of messy I think.

At one point in the climax my pro wrestling fan brain kicked in I thought to myself "this feels kind of overbooked"

We have to be getting a Citizen Detective spinoff series eventually.

    Maybe so, maybe not.

Reviews are…not kind to this finale.

I’m wondering who burned down the cabin. The obvious suspect is Coach Ben, but really anyone could’ve had a plausible motive.

haha overbooked finale is a good way to put it

I keep writing and editing what I want to say because there's just so much (not good). The season as a whole had many ups (all of them are in the wilderness timeline), but the adult timeline is just;..... its terrible. Convoluted, character motivations are either purposely vague or poorly thought out, tone is all over the place, and yeah. It's completely in shambles.

The twist of Natalie being the queen AND killing her off though.... I really dont get that choice. The former, latter, and the combination of those choices.

but really though what was this finale.

I'm still into the show but the writers/producers really need to figure out how to fix this hole they've dug. I don't really get where this is going now

they made one decision in this that seems so heartless it might turn me from kinda loving this show to kinda hating it

i guess i’ll just spoiler tag it but the group pinning natalie’s death as an overdose when she very clearly for a full season now (i realize it might have just been a week in show time or whatever) has been working to stay sober seems heartless from the adult cast in a way that feels like a different show

Why show Ben pick up a box of matches if it wasn’t him?

It will probably be Travis which will be a ridiculously dumb twist.

You guys are over thinking who burned down the cabin. Don't think they're even saying it's a question of who

There is one criticism of the finale i have seen that I don't think I agree with

the idea that because they turned Nat into the leader in the past, now we don't have any characters to root for because she was supposed to be the hero. I have seen at least one major review harp on this. If you thought any character was a hero and was supposed to be rooted for in this show, you are fundamentally looking at this show the Incorrect way

At least one big pro that can be taken from the episode those of us on this thread that really liked Sophie's performance, but had a hard time sitting through Juliette's. Hey problem solved.

Cops in this showing up to purple town for an OD death, a mental health crisis patient with gunshot wound, and a dead cop tied to a corruption case at the same exact time and treating them as completely unrelated things.

For as messy as the adult timeline was I will say Walter, Jeff, and Callie were all standouts for their individual performances.

Again I would 100% watch a spinoff of just Elijah Wood as Walter going around solving crimes by committing worse crimes.
