Matty has always sucked and probably always will.

I take nothing he says at face value…two years ago he said he’d never play another festival that didn’t have 50/50 gender representation…ummm that lasted not even a year.

He acts like he’s the frontman for some edgy act, but he’s up there doing Michael Hutchence cosplay…he does it well though.

he’s made a pretty hard pivot into hip hop, outside of Kim Petras.

It’s concerning that Kim still gets the most shit for working with him yet Doja, Saweetie, Flo Milli, Shenseea, and Saucy Santana all get passes.

 

I don’t think that’s true at all lol Doja definitely got flack for working with him

 

That narrative seems to be coming exclusively from Kim Petras fans. Nicki and Doja got a ton of flack. But they don’t get any repercussions because they have insanely vocal fanbases that will shout down and criticism. Don’t know about Saweetie and Flo Milli. I don’t think they have the same level of fans.

 

Kim gets the most shit, even Katy Perry gets a pass too.

 

I consider myself a Flo Milli fan and I didn’t even know she worked with him. Def knew about Doja and Kim though.

Putting pressure on artists helps (I guess) but at the end of the day, he should be the one facing consequences, and until labels see him as a harm to profits, I don’t see that happening.

 

Kim gets the most shit because literally every song in her discography is produced by him (up until a handful of songs this year), and Katy Perry hasn’t worked with him ever since the Kesha news went public

 

Flo Milli had one song produced by him and she kind of distanced herself from him in an interview, it’s disappointing but not the worst example of people keeping his career alive.

 

Kim also vocally supported him while Doja has been like that guy fucking sucks

accountability is steadily starting to lose any meaning

 

Possibly because people are realizing how unenforceable it is in general?

You can support artists or not support artists by choosing with your dollars, but you can’t decide for others, and that’s all accountability has become - some people wanting to choose for others who they should and shouldn’t listen to, based on who they think should or shouldn’t have a platform

Hold them accountable in your own fashion, with your money, and realize that’s where your effect on other people should and does end
