I understand at least part of the reasoning behind putting these apps on a subscription, but it still sucks to see. I understand a lot of folks wouldn't be willing to pay full price for these apps (ignoring the fact they'll spend 5 times that amount on the device they're running it on). I'm so damn tired of subscriptions for EVERYTHING though. Outright ownership for any application is going away, and I'm voting with my wallet as such. As a middle-of-the-road millennial, I recall paying for major revisions of apps outright, and I still prefer that method of purchase. i understand a lot of software companies can't survive on that model, and they need recurring revenue to survive, but Apple of all companies doesn't need it. I'm worried they're going to start nickel-and-diming all of their customers even more with BS like subscription apps to boost their "Services" revenue, and nothing will be off limits for recurring monetization. Gross.

As I'm just getting back into music production after a decade, this also seals the deal for me skipping Logic Pro completely as my DAW of choice. I'm using Ableton Live Lite at the moment, and was holding off to see if Apple was going to release an iPad version of Logic Pro. Since they decided to release it as a subscription, I'm out. I may never get Ableton on iPadOS, but at least I can own my current version of Ableton outright. Planning on upgrading to Live Standard in the next couple weeks.

 

One of my Gen 2 AirPods won't charge anymore — I think the charging contact on the bottom of the left one is either chipped (although I don't remember dropping it) or corroded from sweat. Which means I'm getting new AirPods soon and I'm looking for some opinions on Gen 2 vs Gen 3 (Pros aren't an option — that style of headphone doesn't work with my ear shape). Anyone have thoughts on the feel/shape of Gen 3 after loving Gen 2?

I finally updated my phone least night and now ALL texts to my wife hit me with “Message Send Failure”

we both have restarted phones to troubleshoot

also now my Waze app is bricked

 

weird. are you on 16.4.1 OS? I just opened Waze and it's working fine. honestly just doing a force restart on my phone usually helps resolve weird shit that pops up.

apparently its a bug with the app.

ONLY while driving it wont let you click on or view any reports. i posted on r/waze today and others are confirming they also have the issue.

 

So, we’ll see Apple’s first non fully Jony product in a few weeks time and it seems there’s some doubt for this first iteration but I know that’s what happened with both the iPad and Apple Watch to which further iterations proved to be a success so I’m not too doubtful at this time.

Decided to put the iPad on hold and started looking into iMac. I’ll let my 2019 MBP be my portable device. The only thing I’m not sure about is the M1 on the current iMac. There are signs of an iMac being released with M3 late this year or early next year.

Best to just wait?

And for those in here who use an Apple desktop, what keyboards do you pair it with?

 

You might be better waiting for the M3 iMac which is still rumoured to be released this year.

 

Anybody have the Beats Studio 3’s with ANC? How are they? I don’t really need them but I saw they’re over half off on Best Buy rn

I have them and they’re fucking awesome. It’s very easy to forget where I am when I have them on while I’m walking or in a coffee shop. So just remember that if you get the urge to start singing along. Haha!
