"Bird Sounds" is hella underrated

 

The B stretch on violent waves is very good

Bird Sounds is v good. The album loses me a little bit from Phantasmagoria (one of the worst Circa songs, even if it's not bad, imo) to Brother Song, but Bird Sounds brings me right back and the album ends on a strong stretch of that, Blood from a Stone, and I'll Find a Way

 

I fucking love "Phantasmagoria" hahaha we are not on the same page today!

I think the only Circa songs I do not like are Phantasmagoria, Nobody Can Change, and Bad Heart

With that said, Bad Heart is the only song of theirs that I would say is bad

 

Bird Sounds is probably my favorite VW song at this point. I’m pretty sure my Circa album rankings would get me crucified though, and I don’t wanna start the two straights pages of album rankings so I’ll just leave it at “VW as a whole is underrated”.

I respect any ranking with Violent Waves in the top five tbh

I realize that Aaron’s post doesn’t necessarily imply that he would disrespect any ranking with VW outside the top five, but I’m leaving my previous post up regardless

 

oh god. At this point I’d probably say:

Two Dreams > Blue Sky Noise > Violent Waves > The Amulet > On Letting Go > Decensus > Juturna

I tend to rank music based more on how it connects with me emotionally than based on what I think is more objectively a bands “best” work though. To save my ass a little, I will say I think Juturna is musically their most interesting, it just doesn’t connect as much with me emotionally. Two Dreams just so happened to hit the exact spot at the exact time and has genuinely become my go-to Circa album.

I respect it though and I totally understand leaning more towards albums you connect with emotionally

 

I’ll say, I really love every Circa album. They’re one of only two artists I have multiple tattoos of (I have the safecamp symbol and the OLG art), with the other being Bowie. So like, it pains me to say any album is at the bottom since each of them has had a big impact on me at some point. Like, I’ve only crowd-surfed twice, and the first time was at the Juturna 10 year tour. So I still have great memories with that album.

I guess I was due for an asskicking… miss you ly hope everything is going good. Juturna is still an absolute banger. Maybe weirdly (just because most people bring up the guitar more than anything) that album changed the way I think of drums. Also introduced me to Eternal Sunshine which remains one of my favorite movies. Nothing but love for that album.
