Thank you, I will look at joining soon. I picked a bad time to pick this game back up it seems! Out of the dozens and dozens of raid's I've checked I have only ever seen a lobby with another person in it ONCE! I have got 3-star raids down to a sliver of health a few times playing them solo but the timer always runs out, very very frustrating.

 

Raids are extremely frustrating now, I do maybe one a month at most

 

I am very fortunate in that I live directly nextdoor to a gym so can use my one free raid pass per day without even leaving the house, but all the top pokemon are near-unobtainable for me because no-one is ever there to do the bigger raids. A ridiculous decision by Niantic to change things when they did.

Luckily I am happy just collecting mons, filling the pokedex and shiny hunting, but of course the only ones I need to complete Gens 1 and 2 are only available in raids lol

 

If you're willing to buy/use remote passes for legendaries and bigger raids, Pokeraid is a great app

 

Are there such things as swarms in this game? I must have caught 100+ bellsprout yesterday, every single spawn was a goddamned bellsprout for almost an hour, yet when the clock hit 7pm exactly all the spawns on the screen switched back to the standard ones you see all the time? Are these random or pre-planned by the game or what?

 

Yup, these happen on Tuesdays from 6pm-7pm

 

They have events every Tuesday at 6PM local that's called spotlight hour so almost every spawn is one mon.

Ahh that is cool, thank you - that leekduck page is very helpful, though I am gutted that the next community day this weekend is Fennekin which spawn all the damn time near me already haha. Houndour spotlight hour in a couple weeks though

 

I still try to log in a few times a week to complete tasks and get some catches, nowhere near as much as I used to though.

The Fennekin day will still be worth it. The shiny will be available for the first time and it has high odds, like 1/25 I believe. If you play for an hour you should easily get at least one.

Yeah I will be shiny hunting for sure, managed to get a shiny Togetic and Swinub from their recent days. But also will be taking advantage of the 3x catch stardust!

 

The new Shadow Raids should be cool. Just a bummer they are making them local only. I'm fortunate that there is a pretty active PoGo Community in Tampa but I know not everyone has that luxury.

Will be interesting to see what the catch rates are since they are introducing the Master Ball. I'm guessing the shiny shadow legends won't be guaranteed catches either.

 

Yeah the local-only decision is another frustrating one as it leaves me little chance of getting any of the legends I would have thought. You never know though, with it being summer soon more people may be out playing the game when the weather is good.

 

At the very least there will be some decent wild spawns, and I will probably do several shadow Machop raids in person as I have some raid passes in my inventory atm, but I would love to get a decent IV of any of those shadow 3-star pokemon - I will attempt them solo but I guarantee I will run out of time with them all having 2-3 hits left lol

 

Event has started pretty well, shiny Skorupi on the second wild spawn after it started at 10am!

 

Ok sorry for 4 posts in a row, but does anyone have any tips on how to catch the Galarian birds at all? I saw a Zapdos yesterday and an Articuno today, and both fled after breaking out of the first ultra ball I threw - I know my luck must be through the roof to get two sightings in consecutive days, but is that also bad luck that they fled so quick? The Articuno was 3135cp and would have been my highest cp Pokemon, so am currently screaming/crying/throwing up etc.

 

waste a couple of balls so you can gauge how far they actually are, other than that it’s just pure luck haha

 

The Galarian birds have very low catch rate and a high flee rate so unfortunately it comes down to luck. There is a theory that chucking like 10 balls into the ground raises their catch rate because the game does that for legendary raids. I don't think it's every been proven that the game does it for the birds but some people believe it does since the birds are coded as legendaries in the game.

 

I did see that theory haha, I will give anything at try tbh. I wanted that Articuno so bad, very cool design - all 3 look great tbh and I am glad they are not raid-only so I stand a chance of getting them. Moltres tomorrow
