My girlfriend makes something similar with Grape jelly and meatballs and they're bomb.

It's Grape jelly and chili sauce, throw it in a crock pot, and it basically just makes a BBQ sauce. Serve them as appeteasers.

 

I do that recipe with meatballs.

I love pepper jelly. It has to have a fruit mixed in it like raspberry or strawberry.

My favorite fruit in pepper jelly is typically the peppers.

 

That jelly crock recipe rocks with slices of kielbasa too. One of my family's go to dishes for gatherings.

 

I have heard there are some small pockets of the south where people make fried liver with grape jelly on it. I saw it on a Bizarre Foods once and it always fascinated me.

 

am I the only one that finds Bizarre foods a bit problematic in retrospect? Like all these cherished regional culinary traditions, and a show for dumbass Americans just to be like "lol eww that is fucking weird as hell"

Yeah Zimmern did a great job with it, but just the concept itself feels a little gross now.

 

To be fair, if you showed the rest of the world cherished American regional cuisines I think most non-americans would have the same reaction.
