This was so great. The best MCU release in a very long time.

Still just can’t believe how great the Rocket origin stuff was. Truly top tier storytelling.

The film really felt like earlier MCU entires that delivered creatively/emotionally in more an effortless way.

Is Gunn completely DC now? Is he not allowed to work on the MCU for the foreseeable future?

He is in charge of DC studios. He won’t have much time even if he wanted.

I’m sure he will still keep up with Feige. It’s a good thing that the heads of both Marvel and DC Studios have good history with each other.

If someone can answer without spoilers--I keep seeing how this is the last time we'll see the GOTG and etc. Does that mean they won't make appearances in any future Avengers movies, or just that we won't have any more GOTG specific movies? I feel like even if the actors are done with doing months long shoots with the characters for 2.5 hour movies, they could still suck it up and do a few weeks of shooting for roles in the ensemble movies, no?

I'd say no more GOTG specific movies. Will see (some of) them again, most likely Avengers like you said.

And more likely no more GOTG movies with the lineup as you know it - significant changes going forward

The trilogy is over but that doesn't mean we never see them again

Yeah, I think it’s just that this specific lineup won’t be seen again. I could definitely see them making movies with the GOTG title but having a different lineup.

The movie indicates that at least some characters will return.

Gunn has been saying for ages that this was the end of this iteration of the team. There will still be a GOTG.

Dave Batista and Zoe Saldana have both said they’re done with their characters too.

    They’re done for now.

6 - 8 maybe even 10 years from now once they’ve been away from the pressure of it? I wouldn’t be surprised if we see them.

More than anyone else, I think Bautista is truly done. He’s gotta better things to do with his time.

(Someone please make his dreams come true and write a romance for him to star in!)

I was such a mess during this entire sequence. So immensely satisfying and far, far better than all the fan theories that Drax was definitely going to die or that Rocket was definitely going to die, etc. because the endings we got instead were so right. Soon as I saw Drax interacting with the kids in the cages it hit me that for so long fans felt that his story was over because Thanos was gone now and he’d served his purpose. But that negates the hole left in Drax’s heart and in the hearts of so many others who are faced with devastating loss, and also completely ignores the entire theme of the guardians themselves. So right when he began interacting with them and they smiled and laughed I thought “right. He’s a father and he can be again. That’s what his daughter would want.” Very happy that’s where it landed.

My biggest tears flowed when Mantis and Drax waved goodbye to each other. Fuck me they were both so good.

I thought this was just okay. Did not like all the animal hybrids and the weird living planet thing. Just gross to be gross. A lot of the humor fell flat too in my basically packed theater.

I did enjoy that it wasn’t connected to the rest of the MCU and overall was a good final chapter for the characters.

This is where I get off the marvel train. Was a wonderful farewell. There is nothing in the near future that sounds remotely interesting coming from that studio

I mean. I understand why people are dropping off of Marvel. But there’s enough interesting characters that I’ll keep watching. Especially since they hit a breaking point with Quantumania as far as clearly visually showing a rushed release. Them pumping the brakes and delaying things is a very good thing to me. I’m gonna see how much that improves things.
