Coma Eclipitic is a decent album too, but I'd start with those.

it's not my favorite by them but in terms of concept crack the skye sticks out the most in mastodon's earlier discog when they were still doing concept records.

im sitting here trying to think of my favorite concept records in general and can only think of a handful, across all genres. and i mean strict narrative driven concepts not "loose" concept records. david comes to life, the monitor, etc

Our Lady Peace - Spiritual Machines

Actually that could be considered loose but whatever haha

as far as a strict narrative concept album goes, The Ugly Organ is probably my favorite one.

They are my favorite band ever. They've tailed off a bit since their fourth or fifth album but the ones up til then were fantastic, especially Spiritual Machines and Happiness... Is Not A Fish You Can Catch.

i dont think i knew you liked that album? haha

but yeah, it does that thing really well of being a strict narrative but also functioning well as just some songs that I personally can relate to. I suppose Domestica also warrants mention since its also a strict concept album in a sense.

Deltron 3030 is probably the best "strict" concept album

i always describe The Ugly Organ as the album Max Bemis ripped off with IARB.

yeah i guess its a bit more loose than TBP. But honestly the Bullets/Cheers/Parade trilogy works really well as a great, long concept album.

while at first veeeeery hard to follow, I love the story in Coheeds albums and have grown to appreciate all of their albums more because of it.

love coheed but have literally never tried following the story because its so messy and complex its just like yeah its there but the songs jam thats all i care about. like i literally have no idea what any of their songs mean but i'll sing em just the same

i used to be like that but then i took like a day out of my life to try and wrap my head around it. its got weird religious/antichrist undertones and all sorts of deep inner universe mythology and it can be reeeeeally hard to follow so i get it. at least the songs slap like no fucking tomorrow
