This arrived a few days ago, but I didn’t get a chance to jam until this morning.

It’s a perfect day for letting go... Supporter

    Fun Saturday question:

what is your 3 most prized records in your collection? Mine are in no order

    1) Further Seems Forever “The Moon Is Down” (autographed by whole band)

    2) Copeland “Blushing” (Autographed by Brian Laurenson to my old podcast when I had him on as a guest

    3) Copeland “You Are My Sunshine” (Autographed by whole band. One of maybe 3 records from my original collection from college. Sold the rest to pay for rent between 2011-2012)

gonna technically cheat here and say 4, but only because two of them kind of go together:

    1. first pressings of Blonde and Endless by Frank Ocean. been lucky to have grabbed these from his website when they dropped.

    2. Melodrama by Lorde - the 180g blue pressing. got this on my 24th birthday for $40 at Vintage Vinyl in St. Louis. never knew it was so rare or that nowadays it would be going for over $400 on Discogs. the sound quality is phenomenal and the packaging is incredibly well-done.

    3. Absence by Paper Route - my favorite album of all time, and the first vinyl record i ever bought. bought and signed by the whole band during their TPOWT tour, and while i'm mad i never got my hands on TPOWT (i was a broke high school student at the time, so i only had money for one of the two), i loved that show and this album reminds me of how great of a time it was.

    Mine would have to be:

    1. North-Something Corporate (2013 ETR Yellow): Beyond being my favorite SoCo album, it is the most I’ve spent on a vinyl. It’s only sold for higher prices since. It’s looks great. It sounds great. An all time favorite for me.

    2. The Alchemy Index-Thrice (2021 repress): To be honest, I haven’t even listened to it yet. It’s also one the high side of pricing. But I just think it looks incredible. I love that it looks like a book. The album is an index, so being able to flip to the “section” I want just hits right. The liner notes are so cool. I only wish they weren’t 10 inches. It would probably be my favorite if they were 12 inches. Oh well.

    3. Ocean Avenue-Yellowcard (2011 Hopeless black): One that should have been very pricey for me. But, I got super lucky when a friend was selling off her collection. She was only going to make me pay $10 or $15 for it. I knew how pricey it was and paid a bit more to not totally rob her. It was still an incredible price for it. Before that, I’d given up on getting it unless a repress happened. I’m so happy to have it in my collection.

  11. 1. 20 Stories Falling - Existence (my old band’s album. first time any of us ever had our music on vinyl.)

    2. Blink-182 - TOYPAJ (the pressing with the bonus 7 inches.)

    3. Jimmy Eat World - Clarity (I picked it up at the 10 year anniversary show, when my brother and I drove down to Arizona together.)

  12. I don't really have any interesting stories, most of my records were either bought online or in Amoeba/Target/B&N/FYE. Aside from the box sets (Inside RGB, Meteora 20th), I most value anything that isn't (or wasn't) on CD, like Hayley's Flowers for Vases, Long Beard's Sleepwalker, and the boygenius EP, which, ironically, were my first three purchases and therefore the ones that got me into this whole collecting mess in the first place

Off the top of my head…

Panic - Pretty Odd super deluxe edition or whatever. The first vinyl record I ever bought!

The Japanese House - Good At Falling. Searched and searched and searched for that record until I finally saw Amber live and got a copy.

And then I’d say a handful of old Sparks and Weird Al records. Oh, and a pink first pressing of GLOW ON

    The Alchemy Index (2017 repress)
Ocean Ave (Field Day yellow repress)

I’m not sure what would be my third so I’ll just say my original Mean Everything to Nothing since it was my first record.

i tore a hole in the fabric of time Moderator

If we’re going on probable value, I think these are the rarest I’ve got in my small collection:

    1) (joint answer) the original ~2006/7 pressings of mewithoutYou’s first three records

    2) emery’s original pressing of the weak’ send

    3) paramore’s original pressing of Riot!

But if we’re going on what they mean to me, Son I Loved You At Your Darkest and Define The Great Line are two of my all time favorite albums and I have pressings of both, so they sneak in. DTGL might be the original pressing, now that I think about it. I had it before the recent re-pressings.

  16. 1) Yellowcard boxset.
    2) MxPx boxset.
    3) Red Eyes Cheshire Cat

those box sets are just too cool, and two of my favorite bands ever whose catalogs I adore, is it cheating? Probably lol

high and lows, they go something like this... Supporter

Prized not for value but just sentiment:

    1) Original pressing of AGBPOL “You’re Always On My Mind” - Favorite band, favorite record
    2) Moving Mountains / Prawn “Split” - Something about hearing “Deathless” on physical media…
    3) Anxious “Little Green House” - this record kicked off my second wave of collecting early last year

Of sugar and ice I am made

    1. AFI - Sing the Sorrow (1st press)
    2. AFI - 336 picture disc
    3. AFI - Decemberunderground (Hot Topic 7" set)

I'll let you guess my favorite band.

    My top 3:
    Delay - Don’t Laugh
Cold As Life - Born To Land Hard
Bouncing Souls - How I Spent My Summer Vacation

  24. yeah I think the CD release is relatively recent

  25. I think mine are

    * AFI - Sing the Sorrow (1st press)
    * the Mountain Goats and Kaki King - Black Pear Tree
    * Converge - You Fail Me (1st press, was maybe my first good find digging in a record store)

honorable mention to my copy of Brown Bird's Salt for Salt, which is perpetually getting repressed but a friend got it for me and it will never leave my collection
