I watched their set once and I'm still not convinced they're real

how fucked up is it that kids used to wear shirts with AK 47s on them that said "defend pop punk"?

"Montrose" is a really good pop-punk song, lyrics aside. How they've never been able to put it together and write another worthwhile song is beyond me

Montrose is indeed a jam. But yeah, I really can't defend (pop punk) them anymore outside of a batch of songs.

    Real Talk
    Montrose
    Dear You
    Crybaby
    210B
    Dylan's Song

And...that's pretty much it. Everything else is kinda grating :/

Agree on Reroute (its up there at least) and while STYE is the best album Korn never wrote. I put it below atleast 3 other in flames albums.

But kudos for being the first person i have seen to mention In Flames on here.

MOB for me felt like a throwback to early 00's pop punk which is why i dig them. But yes. Lyrically they are atrocious. I do still love the odd song though.

    My favourites.
    Real Talk
    Love Your Friends
    Rare
    Atlas
...now im nored of listing MOB songs i like. Typing is effort at this time.

Geoff rickly did a verse in one of their songs. That was pretty decent

I respect that. It definitely isn't their best album but it has "Touch of Red" and "The Quiet Place" and those two songs alone are classic. It boasts some other jams too but yeah, RTR definitely trounces it in quality.

    which 3 btw? :o

Mouth of the Architect is great if you've ever listened

Also love ISIS and Panopticon is their best. Oceanic is really good too. Wouldn't consider them black metal though.

Right there with you on having polar opposites in my playlist as well. My two favorite music styles are 1) really ornate, emotionally compelling indie rock with pretty clean guitars 2) gritty unpolished punk and post-hardcore.

Jumping from Death Cab For Cutie to Fugazi, or from American Football to Sonic Youth, is a doozy for most people. If you listen to the music I write though it's like smack dab in the middle of those two styles... you hear the punk come out when I get angry and you hear the cutesy indie come out when I write sad songs lol.

i'm a sucker for conceptual albums but i'm surprised/disappointed that every narrative-driven metal album i've checked out so far blows - what with the sheer amount of bands fully dedicated to releasing those instead of conventional stuff

everything has been either a chore to get through, way too goofy, or a combination of both. i'm probably listening to the wrong bands but still. am open to suggestions ofc

Back in the myspace days I really wanted to be one of those myspace hanger ons that befriended all the bands and looked cool so I tried to chat up this metal band and sucked up to them and felt so cool cause they responded to me even tho they responded to every desperate fan leaving them comments, and it was extremely embarrassing for me. That's my metal story. ur welcome.
