I really enjoyed the one with David Harbour in the English dub. very cool idea glad they're doing another volume

  2. You've been transported to another universe! (and transformed into a non-human, if applicable, so as not to stand out.) While you unwittingly find yourself part of the resistance, you're not quite the "chosen one," though; you merely fight on the fringes, hearing stories of the main characters' exploits and feeling pride as you catch glimpses of them on the battlefield. What show would you want to be in?

some ideas: ATLA/Korra, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, She-ra, Amphibia, The Owl House

I'd probably pick either ATLA or She-ra. AT is just our world in the future, SU is just our world with Gems, Amphibia and Owl House are kind of terrifying if you really think about it, too many things that could potentially eat you. Living in a world with bending or with powerful Princesses would be so cool.

This is a hard one. Every world I think would be cool to live in keeps coming undone because of some thing that causes me to be like “actually that would be scary as shit in real life.” Even the world of Pokemon that so many fans say they’d like to live in sounds wild as hell. You mean to tell me that while walking through the forest I could stumble upon a hive of angry, giant Beedrill who will chase me until I die and when I dive into the water thinking “yes this will be safe”, I run the risk of being hydro beamed by a massive Gyarados just swimming around out there? Every day would be terrifying. What will try to kill me today? Oh it’s a rabid pack of Houndoom. Didn’t guess that one.

I'd absolutely go to Gravity Falls and live there forever. you're telling me I could have my formative childhood experiences in a beautiful rural town where I may or may not get to punch a pterodactyl, go ghost hunting or fight an evil sentient triangle that talks like David Lynch on a day to day basis? sign me the hell up

Gravity Falls is truly great, I consider it the ur-text of this new wave of excellent YA animated shows like TOH, Amphibia, Adventure Time, Ducktales etc. almost all of them connect back to GF through the artists involved

  10. Had to look up what urtext meant haha but yeah idk why it took me so long to check this out, definitely living up to the hype so far

I don't know what ur-text is, but on TV Tropes, an ur-example is something that was a precursor to a thing. Like how Faith No More wasn't nu-metal but was a major influence on the genre.

  13. Finished Gravity Falls, that was an incredible finale to a very enjoyable show. I may still like Amphibia and Owl House more but I can appreciate the influence Gravity Falls had on them, as the urtext or whatever haha

  14. Did you decode the messages in the end credits of each episode? If not, I guess you gotta start over! :-)

  15. Just got back from seeing Kiki’s Delivery Service at the theater. That was fun. Cute little movie.

If you're also following the streaming services thread you might've noticed I did a run through of all the DCAMU (except Judas Contract, not watching that again)

I watched the first episode of Hailey's On It (w/ Auli'i Cravalho) and The Ghost and Molly McGee (w/ Ashly Burch), fun so far. Also thinking of starting Star vs the Forces of Evil and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur

Star is great. I liked the first episode of Moon Girl, need to catch up on that

  18. I've surprisingly found myself very invested in live action series Secret of Sulphur Springs so I've put Hailey's On it and The Ghost and Molly McGee on hold for now. Speaking of Disney shows, Amphibia and Owl House are obviously great, but I'd like to remind everyone that the often overlooked Tangled and Big Hero 6 series are also very good and worth looking into if you liked the movies.

I think Nimona hit Netflix today? Based on ND Stevenson's graphic novel

Yesssss, the Tangled series is so insanely good. My son watched it all the way through a couple years back and I’m happy because now my daughter’s discovered it and working her way through as well. We checked out Hailey’s On It the other day and I really like the writing so far so I’m in. My son also currently loves Hamster and Gretel.

been watching Adventure Time for the first time, it's so fucking good. was always daunted by how damn much of it there was but the episodes are so short, my housemate and I burn through half a season in a day sometimes

My wife and I started The Dragon Prince and it’s a lot better than I expected. Huge Avater vibes…

  24. I really want to watch X-Men and Clone Wars and JLU, but they're so long. I feel like I don't have the mental bandwidth for it right now. I'm not even like depressed or anything, I think I have some mild form of ADD, or tiktok is ruining my brain.

I grew up with ATLA and Teen Titans, then it was AT and SU, then SPOP and Owl House. Some of the greats just fell off the radar, I guess. I watched all of BTAS for the first time a couple years ago, but I don't feel the same drive now. I also watched Gravity Falls for the first time this year but that's relatively short.
