Not related to this album, but for the past week I've been repeatedly listening to Frances The Mute and Cassandra Gemini in particular and I think I may have to be stopped.

 

I've been watching random footage from their reunion shows for the past two days and I'm craving an European tour so bad

 

they were soooo good. I got to see two and dont think they will ever top the setlist for that tour.

 

I finally snagged a copy on vinyl recently. My wife, who usually can't stand prog was super into it. It's the small victories. Lol

 

Cassandra Gemini may be this band's magnum opus

How is the opening minute so dissonant yet still somehow so catchy.

 

the acoustic album is certainly interesting, but overall it's very much not my thing. Technically very complex and cool, but in practice I'm not sure how much I actually enjoy it

 

Listened to all of Frances the Mute today. Just truly impeccable stuff. I also noticed that on spotify they’ve broken up Cassandra Gemini into separate tracks. Kind of odd but I suppose it makes sense in this age of streaming. I just can’t imagine only wanting to listen to certain parts of the song and not the full thing.

 

I think it was technically originally released like that due to some weird EP/LP contract issues

 

This. They would've been paid under EP terms if they didn't break up the track.

 

This is great. The drums especially. Really leans into those salsa vibes.

 

This acoustic re-record is the best thing they've released since Francis. Just absolutely LOVE it.

 

WTF bruh

 

The Latin percussion. The Latin-Jazz piano. That incredible-sounding upright bass. It brings things out of their songwriting that I didn’t even know were there. Phenomenal record.

 

i already loved the original record but this rearrangement is one of the best things they’ve ever done

 

Yeah I wasn’t very interested in it but I gave it a listen and it’s really really cool

 

The self-titled record hasn’t really connected with me. But this reimagining sounds up my alley so I’m gonna give it a go.

Edit: 4 songs in and yeah, I am very into this.

 

Kind of obsessed with this reimagining.
