The person who wrote the articles seems to focus on stories about finance/business/taxes. So I kinda get that.

But yeah, a story about that "other stuff" would be nice to see too. Because that's way more vile than saying "this is the cheapest they'll be" and then offering them cheaper months later.

This isa very good point! I bet a solid chunk of that number are single day tickets.

Totally! If nothing else, this article will be a quick/easy reference for people trying to dispute credit card charges, etc.

EDIT: I do kinda wish they had posted "receipts" as part of the article (e.g., screen shots of the Facebook comment threads, etc. Also? Yay for your friend getting their money back!

...And the more I think about it. What we now know is that 6k people are getting the "VIP" treatment. LOL

Exactly what I said would happen, though I’m sure less people will show up because if you’re from three states away and couldn’t get a refund it’s probably cheaper to give your tix away for free.

They did say they were only covering the ticket stuff so I guess I’m not surprised they didn’t include the messages from him. You would think someone else would write about that, though.

I had this thought earlier today too. Maybe they sold 6k tickets but I suspect a decent number of people are just going to decide it's cheaper to eat the ticket cost and not attend rather than pay for a hotel, etc.

I wonder how the ticket sales map out mathematically in terms of the finances, though... Limp Bizkit, Steve Aoki, Joey Bada$$, Trippie, and Boogie definitely aren't cheap.

And 6k people is significantly less than what Limp Bizkit did at MSG. LOL

The upper deck was closed off for that MSG show. And the stage was moved forward. I'd guess that the MSG show only had 5k people.
Still one of the most fun shows I've ever been to, though.

...Still. For a headliner to draw 1k more than they did at a headline show is a bad look for all involved. Hah. (And, realistically, it's definitely not all because of that one band.)

Idk how John can say “we’ve sold 6K tickets, but in the next 18 days we project we’re gonna double that”.

It feels weird to me that the article seemed to take that “projection” at face value

Yeah Im reading the article now. The fact that the 6k sold came from John D, it automatically makes me think it's really like 4k lol.

Plus as others have said, it's not 6k per day, it's probably 6k spread across the entire weekend.

That's just good reporting, TBH. They reported what was said to them. We all know that is 100% not going to happen. But reporters really shouldn't be editorializing. There's no way to fact-check It and the article really seems focused more on the "consumer issues" than anything. So John's projection is fine presented as his statement.

I'm shocked some other outlet hasn't tried digging into what's going on a bit more. But I also think that speaks to where Bamboozle sits in terms of popularity/size.

EDIT: I guess they also could have pointed out that doubling sales based on that projection would mean selling more tickets than they have IG followers. But I bet they wanted to walk a fine line while speaking with him so he didn't lose his shit, etc.

I don't think it's scary so much as just... Poor planning on the festival's part. And definitely the kind of thing that could lead to it getting cancelled if they haven't left enough time for it all.

And honestly, that might be part of the strategy. Drag their feet with permits and then blame the government process or whatever for not providing them soon enough.

What would be scary is the festival moving ahead without these approvals. This is just poor planning.

he radiates huge trump energy. "its gonna be so good, so good, massive turnout, they wont believe how massive. the other festicals could never dream of this, massive turnout, biggest in AC history they'll say"

Wasn’t yellowcard and another band supposed to be announced later? Maybe there will be a decent amount more tickets sold.

That was just another false promise John D was making in an effort to move more tickets. The festival is in 2 weeks, Yellowcard is not playing lol.

The biggest takeaways from that article were that 1) they haven't even gotten final permits yet, and 2) he could face legal ramifications for the lowered ticket prices.

Also laughing my ass off that they've only sold 6,000 total tickets, when a month ago he was boasting that they'll have 50k people in attendance. I can't wait to see photos of the empty crowds when/if this happens.

Unless A LOT of people accept payment in carnival ride tickets I don’t see any way this comes close to breaking even

Did he ever actually state or even hint/imply they were playing? There was definitely a blurred out spot on the poster that looked like they might add them. But I don't think they ever said outright they were playing.

Agreed. Without knowing how the math all works out for payments to bands, etc. it's kinda hard to see how it's going to go for sure.

That said? It's not looking good and I would assume they are going to be in the red at least until day of the festival. Alcohol sales, merch cuts, and the like might help with some of it but I'd be hard-pressed to assume it'll be profitable.

Then again, I think some of these headliners aren't commanding a massive guarantee... And there's a pretty steep drop-off from the top tier names to the next ones compared to most festivals. So that's a factor to consider too.

I'm leaning toward "no way in hell," but without knowing how much the big names command for a festival appearance it's hard to say for sure.
