It's an unpopular opinion thread and FF7 is considered a holy grail which is why haha

 

idk if 7 would even fall in my top 5. Maybe it would be number 5 actually. Also 12 deserves more love probably. Also I wasn't crazy about 9, that might put me in the minority idk

 

9 opinion is pretty much split down the middle

I've finally started it and I like it a lot so far

 

12 and 9 are great 8 is my fave

 

I might need to replay 9 for a better opinion. Also never played 8 actually

 

I haven't seen a lot of people say they dislike 9, and when they do is usually to say they don't get the hype. Majority among series fans is that it's at least top three

 

6 is my favorite but 8 10 and so far 9 are up there (even though tidus is by far the worst protagonist but it works)

14 is cool too

 

If 9 wasn't so slow it would be the best. I hope they re release it with a fast forward.

 

6 12 and 10 are up there for me, I remember really liking 4 I think. Need to play 8 and replay 5 and 9, Luckily I have a PS Vita and it's more or less a Final Fantasy machine for me at this point.

 

FF7 gets a lot of flak because it didn't really age well. The reason it's so revered is because of what it did for RPGs back in the day. It basically put RPGs on the map as a legitimate genre of games that could sell well. I really enjoyed it (except for the stupid Weapon fights) but I can see how others wouldn't.

FF6 is a goddamn masterpiece no matter how you slice it. I think it's the best by far, followed by 4 and 9. FF4 was the first one to include a bunch of characters with backstories that actually developed relationships between each other. Also obligatory spoony bard reference.

FF9 is my favorite. I'm more of a swords & sorcery guy rather than a steampunk/futuristic setting guy and 9 hearkened back to the things I loved about the series. Also Vivi is a badass.

 

I've been saying forever that I need to finish 6

Haven't played 2-5 or 12 and I need to go back and replay several that I never finished due to time and attention span

 

6 is sooooo good. Best villain in the series.

2 is difficult because of the way you level up stats.

Not really a fan of 3, but I've only played the DS remake.

4 is amazing.

5 is super grindy but has an amazing job system that makes it well worth the work imo

 

I actually liked 9 a lot, well.....except the DBZ twist at the end lol. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and tactics are all tied for first IMO.

 

Ugh I always forget to include tactics. That game was phenomenal

 

I think Japandroids are just good.

I would also take Cloud Nothings over Japandroids.

Don't get me wrong I like Japandroids but sometimes I am surprised at how universally lauded they are. But I mean "Younger Us" is a hell of a song so I guess I get it
