struck me as funny when I first saw this that they aren't the headliners of their own fest

They are very humble. Their goal is to curate cool fests, not feed their egos

Didn’t know they’re creating fests for multiple locations. Gotta be a pretty solid money maker for them.

They may be humble but they're also not nearly as big as they once were, so they really don't have a choice

They’re hosting. If they REALLY wanted to they could make it so they headline. But they know they aren’t as big as they once were and some of these bands are much bigger and choose not to. Give them the credit they’re due

I haven’t listened to these guys in years but this is really cool. Hope these shows do well for them!

It's a goddamn shame they never got bigger than they were. They put out quality stuff every time.

This just isn’t true, they easily could build a fest with them as the headliner and bill newer/smaller bands on it: they are humble bc they care more about putting out a great product then being the center of it. Don’t be a moron.

I still spin their whole catalogue semi-regularly and I think it's aged fantastically well. I assume they didn't get bigger because they were on Victory and shit just got shitty.

Loved their take on Americana. Maybe call it Midwest Emo-cana? ‍♂️

I could never get into mainlining Bruce Springsteen/Tom Petty so this was the closest I got to pure Americana, and boy, you can just smell the hay in that album cover.

Goddamn, I miss them!!!! Glad I got to see them live just twice.

Absolutely solid from start to finish. AND it's pretty much all aged well both musically and subject-wise. Like, I don't think there's a single song about murdering your girlfriend or with super abusive language which for that era was so common. A low bar, to be sure, but they ruled.

I really don’t see a problem whether they host/headline this festival or not - it’s a great lineup and I’m bummed I’m going to miss it. However, it’s silly to think that it would somehow be more-egotistical to headline these shows when I assume they’re the ones who are putting in the work to organize. And you can argue that what their doing could more ego-driven, or at least opportunistic - trying to associate their brand with the bands headlining. To think HH is not at the center of these, and that they’re just super humble, when they are the topic of this entire convo and fest, is just weirdly sympathetic to their stature in the scene.

They are the ones who curate and organize this entire fest. This is no way egotistical or opportunistic. A band their size putting on a festival and not headlining their own festival is definitley being humble and realizing which bands the fans are gonna want to headline. Not to mention they manage to pull it off, when they are far from a band that has that kind of $

This was HH’s crowd during their mid-day non headline set last year with two other stages going on at the same time. I’ve followed HH for a lonnnng time and they were genuinely shocked at the turnout based on JT’s stage banter and when I talked to him after the fest. They’re humble as fuck and I think the topic of them being egotistical is irrelevant

I love that these guys are still coasting in their career and basically making stuff happen on their own in humble and realistic ways.

They could headline over smaller bands, but would that be as successful? I never said they weren't humble, but it's still a fact that they were touring arenas with FOB in 2005 and are not at that level anymore. Don't call me a moron when you can't even understand basic shit like this, lol
