Colour Revolt is one of the bands that I am dumbfounded didn’t get bigger. Saw them open for tbs one year I think after the cradle came out and was blown away.

One of my all time favorites from the mid-late 2000s era of the indie/emo(?) bands covered on this site. They just nail the quiet/loud dynamics and have some interesting song structures that have me hanging on every word and instrument

Speaking of Colour Revolt, I still feel so bad for Sean Kirkpatrick (formerly of Colour Revolt) and his Greater Pyrenees project. Got signed to Procastinate before all the JL shit went down then left out to dry.

They definitely whiffed it on that one. It was a head-scratcher for me too. Lol I wouldn't say putting up limited pressing's through NFTs is contrary to every rad thing they have done recently. That was through Revolver and likely was more of a coordinated thing through their manager. He has done a bunch of interviews about pushing the band forward by reaching different audiences and communities.

I guess my post was buried about that song, but that song is embarrassingly bad, I get secondhand embarrassment listening to it.

On one hand I get it: you wanna get bigger and gain exposure/new fans.. but I just wish artists like Nothing, Nowhere were less melodramatic/cringe.

That collab sucks but this is just as shitty lol:

I saw your post and frankly it made me forget about even checking it out ;d I only feel bad cause n,n. will be one of the supporting acts for Fall Out Boy here and I really would like to be excited, but ehhh

Yeah they’re better than a lot of artists who do the emo rap thing imo

  12. The last album was pretty fun for what it was trying to be, leaned into the pop-punk, the new one is a practically unlistenable attempt at screamo. Was hitting skip before the half way point of most of the songs.

I’m still shocked the band hasn’t said anything about James.

My only guess is the legal side of things isn’t 100% hashed out yet which is preventing any kind of official statement. Still very odd though.

We reach for the longest shadow

When you have a legacy act like Underoath with such a huge, popular back catalog, how does streaming revenue work for previous members? Is that negotiated like a buyout or does each credited members get their own cut?

Depends on their deal with the label. Label gets the receive from streaming then their deal determines what's next

Weird that they waited as long as they did to address it and add absolutely nothing to the situation. Don’t get me wrong, I’m okay with artists maintaining a sense of privacy in a world where we see artists post notes app confessionals for cheating on their girlfriend that one time, but it’s weird that it came to our attention through James over a week ago and it took the band this long to publicly acknowledge it.

Like, yeah guys, we’re well aware of the fact that you’ve parted ways with James by now lol

still sketchy as hell. given that he was ready to hop on the tour, it seems that either James was either willing to work through whatever "differences" exist between them, or the hard feelings are one sided and James was completely blindsided. something isn't adding up.

My shot in the dark guess is that it was over money. Especially with the way they worded it in their statement. The band and James were probably negotiating, told James they were going to table talks until after tour, and then they decided to take matters into their own hands.

Absolute wild guess. I could be wrong. I probably am.

Not sure what differences there'd be from a dude that hasn't recorded a single string of an instrument since at least 2018. Feels shitty for a dude whose been with you for twenty years, especially since they seemed very chill with the way the band operates now, that is in terms of contributing to writing.

    I do not exist.

If they posted this when it happened, fine. However they let both James and his wife break the news and both those posts cast doubt on the situation here. It’s impossible to not find the rest of the band to be a bit duplicitous here, sadly.
