I'm getting a bad feeling about the Denver mayor race. There are so many progressive's in the field that I think they're going to cannibalize each other's share of the vote and we're going to get stuck choosing between the better of two center-left candidates in the runoff (Brough and Johnston).

Arguing with NIMBY's in my local city Facebook is not how I wanted to spend my Friday morning but here we are.

There are adjacent landowners who are pissed because they are putting in a housing development that has rent controlled/low-income apartment. Where they are doing this, a decent chunk of old wood forest needs to get cut down. This is private land as well. So the City worked with the developer to negotiate the low-income aspect to the development while providing some tax relief to the developer. This lady is saying that the City is responsible for the loss of the forest. Which is conflating issues because it was private land so whoever owned the land could have clear cut it for any reason and the City would have had no recourse against it. The City actually had some say in the property because the developer came to the City for some tax incentives.

The “if you know me” part is a little funny to me because in Akron the service industry seems to universally complain that LeBron is super cheap and tips like shit

I do understand that trait more from someone who came from nothing and made a ton of money. I do not get at all with people who were born rich and are still rich or richer. That makes no sense to me.

Obviously tip service workers a lot, but considering how many athletes have gone broke, I don't blame him for being cheap in areas like not buying apps and paying for Twitter.

I read somewhere else on this site that no one else has even thought of COVID in the past 2 years. So I don't know what to believe.

 

Yeah I get being cheap in that way but the not tipping is bullshit. You should know how service industry people are struggling and relying on tips. No excuse there
